We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Will Roundtree a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Will, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission is simple. Growing up I was told that we had to follow a system of going to school, getting good grade, find a good job and live happily ever after. I quickly found out that was not the path I wanted to choose for my life. I noticed even before I completed that cycle of “life” very few people who traveled that path had the things I wanted in life. It wasn’t just not having monetary things, they also lacked peace and stability. I looked at it like, you mean to tell me I have to go spend 100k to 200k and come out of school to make 30k to 50k, the numbers didn’t add up. As I started to learn that financial stress has been a contributor to mental health in our community a long time and with that being said I wanted to seek out for new information to direct me in a different path in life and that is when I started to learn different concepts of what is truly wealth. So as I began to learn and practice the discipline of these concepts it began to become my mission to show the communities that I came from how to change their financial path with information that the wealth teaches their children.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was raised between Mississippi and Milwaukee, WI. Those two places vastly differ and they both molded me in ways the other couldn’t. From my grandfather and my dad, I learned what a good work ethic looked like and how to keep pushing through whatever trial comes my way.
It took a second for me to find my path. I made some of the same mistakes everyone makes when starting their own businesses. Which were good things because I was left to learn from them and properly create a space that worked for me and my team.
I had worked for a credit counseling service for a little while and just thought one day: I can do this and I can do it better.
Through trial and error, I finally found a formula that was successful and allowed me to be able to help people in the way I wanted to help them.
I opened up We Management so that I could assist communities that did not have information and services readily available to them in terms of financial literacy and services that provided monies and mentoring to people wanting to start businesses of their own, repair their credit, invest and give the information in a way that was me meeting people where they were. It proved to be beneficial to them as well as myself.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The thing that helped me beyond anything else in building my reputation in the market is being genuinely me. I am a Black man. I am a father. I am a brother, a son, a cousin, an uncle, a friend, and a nephew. I am all those things all day every day, whether the business is doing well or if it is doing horribly. I was those things before I was what many call successful in business and I will be those things well after I am done doing business day in and day out. Before I became a business owner, I was all those other things, and I keep that in mind when I am working with people. They may not be business owners, but they are women and men who are many things to many people and I connect with them on those levels.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I build brand loyalty by being loyal to my clients and to my brand. I don’t do anything contrary to the core of my being. When people do that, the following will occur. It may not be overnight, but it will come because people want to see those they can reach out and touch and trust. I like to think that my clients and followers trust me.
