Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Will Richardson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Will thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
This is my third attempt at starting a business. I tell people that this is a re-startup to a re-startup, to a startup.
Coming out of high school, my friends and I wanted to start a record label. It never got passed the idea.
My first stint in college me and a friend wanted to start a production company, mainly music production. It too never got passed the idea.
After going back to school I told myself I would start a production company even if I had to do it alone. This time it would be a multimedia production company, Ethereal Vision, LLC.
This is the farthest I’ve gotten and unfortunately I had to leave some people behind. People I should’ve left behind a long time ago. If I did, I would’ve actually started my business a lot sooner. But we can’t dwell on the past. We have to be in the present in order to make a future.

Will, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
It all started with music. We were the guys at school banging on the lunch tables, beat boxing, freestyling in cyphers and battle rapping.
We decided to start recording. We downloaded a program called Cool Edit Pro, a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). I would record, mix, and master our music by ear. Not really knowing what I was doing.
As we got more serious about doing music, we started recording in actual studios. We started performing in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. None of us went to school right away, we just wanted to grind hard and do music. It turned out to be harder than we thought to make it. So at 23 I decided to go to college.
To expand my knowledge of audio production I attended The Los Angeles Recording School which is a branch of The Los Angeles Film School. Not only did I learn recording, mixing, and mastering music, I also learned foley and sound design for film and television. After my time at LARS, I worked as an audio engineer, doing freelance work and continuing to work and produce my own music.
Over time, my curiosity for film and television grew and I decided to further my education at the University of North Texas where I expanded my writing skills from writing lyrics to writing scripts, and also developed a passion for directing.
As a director, I oversee productions from conceptualization to the finished product, meeting deadlines while maintaining quality and efficiency. However, what makes me unique is my versatility, with knowledge in writing scripts, and audio/video production, both on set and in post.
In 2020, I graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s in Media Arts.
Soon after, I came up with the idea for Ethereal Vision, LLC, a multimedia production company, bringing 2 of my fellow schoolmates, Seth and Andrew on board.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Living conditions in Los Angeles were pretty rough. Especially for college students. It didn’t help that there were times we would go out and spend money instead of work on our craft. But it was Losa Angeles/Hollywood. Very easy to get distracted by the nightlife. We couldn’t pay rent and ended up in a group home. Let’s just say it wasn’t the best place to live. We were pretty close to homeless. But even that never deterred me from my goals. We were able to get out of that situation and I decided to move back to the DFW area and get back on my feet! Not too long after that i went back to school.

Have you ever had to pivot?
As much as I love being creative and working on my passion projects, that’s not what pays the bills. While doing my market research, other production companies told me that the money was in the business/corporate world. If I wanted to build capital, that’s where I had to pivot. So for now, my passion projects are shelved. But no worries, it’s all for the betterment of my company.
