We were lucky to catch up with Will Palomino recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Will thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To answer that question, it really depends on how you measure success and what being successful means to you. For my field of comedy, success could mean making it big and selling out the biggest arenas around the world, or it could just mean making a honest living just off of doing what you love, that is comedy.
I remember when I first started comedy, even thought I’m still fairly new in my career, I thought success was traveling all around the world selling out shows and making millions as a touring comedian, and I was right! I’m joking, now don’t get me wrong, that’s a dream come true, and one of my personal goals is to sell out Madison Square Garden one day from comedy, however, I would be happy if I’m able to just focus on Comedy 100% full time and make a comfortable living off of it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Will Palomino, up and coming Stand-Up comedian from Brooklyn, NY residing in Atlanta, GA. I have a unique ambiguous comedy style that might not be for everyone but it’s authenticity me.
Coming up from watching shows like Sandford and Son, Chappelle Show and MADtv, my style definitely blends a lot of the characteristics from those shows together. My biggest comedy influence probably being Dave Chappelle himself, along with my uncles and brother. I came up just cracking jokes with them and the older kids on the block before I moved to Georgia and that was a mostly Caribbean, particularly Jamaican culture in my area. Not to mention most of my family being Jamaican and Jamaican American themselves. So it was NY culture combined with Caribbean culture. More than likely where I get my not so ubiquitous style.
Starting out in comedy, it was definitely tough, especially with me not being from the south to begin with. Southern crowds and a lot different from up north. I had to learn to slow my cadence down and annunciate a lot more, still something I’m working on to this day. It’s really my perseverance, and tenacity to keep showing up and getting on stage every night that took me this far so far. That and my tough skin and wild personality.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part about being a creative is having a platform and outlet to express my creativity attributes in the genre that I love the most, and have the most respect for, which is comedy.
Comedy is a very misunderstood art from, and art itself is one of those things that people don’t always know they need, until they need it.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
What drives me right now is my goal to be financially and physically free and stable through my own means. Free of the 9 to 5 grind, while having to freedom to express myself creatively as a living.
I do want to sell out Madison Square Garden and be able to be an internationally known comedian, but some thing’s just come with time.
