Wilfred, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It’s worth noting that there is no one-size-fits-all formula for success, and the definition of success varies widely among individuals. Ultimately, success is a subjective and personal concept that depends on an individual’s unique goals, values, and aspirations. However, here are my take to what it means to b successful
1. Passion: Pursuing something that one is passionate about can provide the motivation and drive needed to overcome obstacles and achieve success.
2. Goal-setting: Setting clear and achievable goals helps individuals focus their efforts and track their progress towards achieving their desired outcome.
3. Hard work: Success often requires putting in the time and effort to develop skills, knowledge, and expertise. It also involves a willingness to persist through challenges and setbacks.
4. Perseverance: Successful people are often those who can stay committed to their goals and stay focused on the long-term vision, even when facing obstacles or setbacks.
5. Continuous learning: Learning and growing is an essential part of achieving success. Successful people are often those who embrace lifelong learning and seek out new opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Being an entrepreneur is never easy. It requires patience and tenacity to walk through pains and survive. It has been an exciting journey so far because it has given me opportunities to network and meet very interesting persons. I remember during the pandemic when I conceptualized the idea of developing a food delivering app, simply because everyone was at home and ordering for food, I felt that was a brilliant idea. That thought launched me into the tech world, accelerator programs and the startup ecosystem. In the process of wanting to know more, I stumbled into successful startup founders who recommended different accelerator program in order for me to raise fund and gain professional mentorship. I learned in the process, mastering how to write and present pitch decks.
I was able to put together a team of software/app developers who worked to develop the delivery app up to prototype stage. I couldn’t raise the required capital to get going so I had to halt the project. A year later, I got the opportunity to volunteer for Junior Achievement of Dallas, to mentor young students on entrepreneurship and financial literacy. I felt this was a great opportunity to give back, coupled with the fact that I am an entrepreneur. This gave birth to me coming up with the idea of developing a business simulation game to reach out to a multitude of young teens.
The goal of creating a business simulation game for young teens is to provide them with an engaging and interactive way to learn about entrepreneurship and business management. By simulating the challenges and decisions that real-life entrepreneurs face, these games can help young people develop important skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Some of the specific objectives of creating a business simulation game for young teens may include:
Providing a safe and controlled environment for young people to experiment with business concepts and strategies, without the risks and consequences of real-world entrepreneurship.
Helping young people understand the key elements of a successful business, such as marketing, finance, operations, and customer service.
Encouraging young people to think creatively and innovatively, and to develop their own unique ideas for new businesses or products.
Like I said earlier, I am a serial entrepreneur and I am loving the progression. While my team of game designers and developers are working on creating the most interactive business simulation game, I am also launching a cloud kitchen restaurant in the heart of Dallas, before the year runs out.

Any advice for managing a team?
I take pride in managing a team and injecting means to boost their morale and some of the ways I do that are stated hereunder;
Communicate effectively: I make sure I keep my team informed about what’s happening within the company, providing clear expectations, and offering regular feedback. Regularly checking-ins with team members also has helped to build a sense of trust and support.
Set clear goals: Establishing clear goals for the team and make sure everyone understands how their work contributes to those goals is a norm for me because I celebrate milestones and successes along the way.
Fostering collaboration: I encourage my team to work together, share ideas and knowledge, and support each other. This process is achieved through team-building activities, regular meetings, and establishing a culture of openness and inclusivity.
Providing opportunities for growth: I ensure that I provide them with opportunities to learn new skills, take on new challenges, and advance in their careers. This can be achieved through training programs, job rotations, or mentorship opportunities.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My entrepreneurial journey dates back to 2008 back in Nigeria. My love for music made me set up a record company where I thought will be able to compete and be successful. I had high hopes, unfortunately, I was met with set backs, from not having enough capital to not having the knowledge about how the music industry works. Fast forward 8 years later and I moved to United States where I practically mastered the art of website building, built my first e-commerce website, started selling on shopify which saw little growth as a dropshipper. The experience as a web designer launched me into taking my entrepreneurial skills really seriously. The pandemic ushered me into a different level where I set up a Foodie website that was connected to Hello Fresh and Marley Spoon. Because was at home, I felt it was a great Idea to set up a website like that and make money.
However, I dropped the idea of continuing in that line of business for four months only for me to receive an analytical report from Google showing me records of visitors to the website (5,000). When I saw that, I knew I had to take my business really serious, that singular act gave birth to my now established cloud kitchen company called FOODIEKIT CLOUD KITCHEN and OBTECH ENTERPRISE LLC.
