We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wilfred La Salle . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wilfred below.
Wilfred, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My journey into filmmaking began with a lifelong love for movies. The spark for my first film, “Hilo,” ignited unexpectedly in 2019 during a gym session. A vision of my character in a red leather jacket pushed me to leave, and within two days, I had the script ready. With no prior film experience and having never attended any fancy film school, I enlisted friends, forming a makeshift cast. A small production company brought my vision to life over two intense days of shooting, marking the start of the Hilo trilogy. The rest was history, and La Salle Productions Inc. was born.

Wilfred, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a Bronx-based filmmaker, shaped by a childhood in poverty where movies were my escape and inspiration. The desire to do something heroic led me to filmmaking, empowering me to become something greater. My proudest moments stem from creating high-quality independent films on a shoestring budget, transforming limitations into strengths. La Salle Productions Inc., my brainchild, is more than a film company—it’s a multimedia powerhouse providing top-tier films and client services. Beyond filmmaking, I run social media for businesses in the New York tri-state area, aiming to revolutionize the media industry by delivering top-quality content that elevates businesses’ presence, trust, and success. Our mantra: “Revolutionizing Independent Filmmaking one film at a time.”

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In my journey, I’ve learned that it’s about finding a way or finding an excuse—Rome wasn’t built in a day. Failures have outnumbered successes, but protecting and pursuing my dream has been non-negotiable. Life’s hardships, whether good or bad, are to be embraced. Coming from nothing, experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty, I decided that life’s path wasn’t for me and initiated change. New beginnings don’t happen overnight; they demand over 10,000 hours of hard work, tackling tasks others won’t. The essence lies in the journey, not just the destination.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
While my social media may showcase the wins, it’s essential to recognize the losses that shaped my journey. Some may see success and assume it was handed to me, but the truth is, I’ve worked relentlessly for every achievement. What creatives and those who truly know me see is the dedication and hard work behind the scenes. In real life, I’m not just about the wins; I’m a dedicated, hardworking nerd who’s put in the grind to make things happen. I believe others can learn from my struggles, witnessing how I’ve turned challenges into victories.
