Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Wholesome Era. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Wholesome Era , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Sunnier Days Ahead was our most recent show from the family, as it was also our most meaningful project so far. With all varieties of mediums of art from 50 artists, curated by Prince Palace. The crew got together with only 21 days of preparation. With a short time in our hands, many of us had to take matters in our own hands for the first time, like driving a U-Haul through the busy streets of New York, handling 200 pieces of artworks that were dropped off at designated checkpoints, and most importantly putting together of all pieces in only the day of the exhibition as there were a big rave party right before our show on the 12th. Sunnier Days Ahead was important to us, not because we set everything up cohesively in a short period of time, but it was because we were able to come together when it mattered the most. The bright uplifting energy that the Wholesome Era crew and 50 other lives brought to the show emphasized exactly how bright our artistic paths are for not to just those who showed up that day, but for the rest of the art world to see that there’s a new day ahead. A Sunnier one!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Wholesome Era is a family of creatives made in Brooklyn, with hearts and backgrounds from all around the globe. Our main goals are to protect the passion and dedication to one’s craft within the art world, and redefine what it means to have a gallery. “Wholesome Era 1” was our first attempt on delivering a new form of group art show with fresh and spontaneous energy. Going against the traditional white walls gallery format and simple t shirt designs, the family brings fresh styles of art from the ones you can see, to the ones you can wear. We curate art shows with all mediums harmoniously conversing with each other. Wholesome era is a sanctuary for total creations to live on through every expression. No clout. No hierarchy. Only Art.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Rather than what society can do to support artists, the real is question is what society can do to live more expressively? And that, to us, is to make art. In the current world, where money and fame have become the real measurement of what successful art pieces look like, we’ve created imaginary boundaries that limit ourselves from living freely as we are born to be. The world is too big for us to feel this small. Art was never constrained to instagram profiles or merch sales. It’s our instruments that let our souls speak freely, even when lights are dimmed in the tunnels. And for all of us, as a society, making a space for ourselves to create, regardless of any outcome, is the real way we remind ourselves that we have always been free.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
To us, creativity runs within our souls. No one is limited to their day jobs, statuses, or who they are. Art is the backbone of all cultures, through all times, good and bad. It has always been there to preserve ideas and voices of all through times of conflict. Its purpose will always remain to show us that we are never that different from each other as human race. We as a collective are here to remind everyone that there will always be a space and time for creativity to thrive within this changing world. Art exists beyond every classroom, beyond all colleges, and institutions that keep us from having the conversation that keeps creativity alive.
