We recently connected with WhoDat Boyz and have shared our conversation below.
WhoDat, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Demario : 2023 Opened a new chapter for us to stretch our creativity to new lengths as we really launched into our DJ careers, our stance as just podcast personalities into acting and comedy sketches. Also we are working on an undisclosed website project that will be ready to launch soon that should effect the event industry in Tennessee. Stepping out and broadening our creative avenues outside of podcast world. We invested money this year that we had earned the previous year though several projects. You have to spend money to make money is what they tell me, and they are correct when you reach a certain level of business.
Brandon: ` all the risks that had to be taken on the journey were calculated. The planning and execution may take time to come to fruition, but the calculations always ensure the process has fruit. So, as long as we had to patience to work it out and just get through it. God made sure it worked out in a constructive way. Each new step was thought about first.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We, Demario Liggons and Brandon Sporwl, are a dynamic duo who embarked on our entrepreneurial journey with South 65 Films and Lost in The Trap Media. Initially starting as photographers and videographers in middle Tennessee, we gradually expanded our company’s horizons.
Our first expansion led us to create a podcast, where we shared our own adventures and invited guests we had collaborated with to share their stories. As time went on, we broadened our scope and featured individuals who had led extraordinary lives through their careers and adventures. This podcast venture lasted for approximately four years, during which we formed meaningful connections.
However, we felt the need to evolve further. This led us to establish The Who Dat Organization as our LLC, enabling us to explore various avenues such as DJing, event management, acting/comedy, authorship, and a secretive website project slated for launch in the third quarter of 2023. With an expanded range of skills and assets, we found ourselves capable of taking on more diverse projects.
Over time, we have seamlessly integrated our accumulated knowledge and experiences with our expanding ventures. This natural workflow allows us to tackle projects with ease, drawing upon the lessons learned from each endeavor. Currently, we are in the process of rebranding ourselves as The WhoDat Boyz, as our initial podcast has evolved beyond its original form. It has blossomed into a talk show, resembling more of a TV show rather than a mere podcast. As a result, our services have adapted accordingly, and instead of providing DJ services solely for the WhoDat Podcast, we now offer DJ services for parties and events as The WhoDat Boyz. Throughout our journey, we have embraced adjustments and recognized the need for change.
In essence, we humorously refer to ourselves as serial entrepreneurs, reflecting the various paths we have explored and the adaptive mindset we have adopted in our careers.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Demario: For me personally I want to not only leave a legacy for my kids but create a pipeline for other to able to take their creative crafts and develop them into a lucrative source of income. If you do video, target your clients to do advertising and business content creation. They need those assets more than the next musician. They also have the funding to support your companies needs. No its not as fun as the hip hop artist music video with the cars and the girls but that pay check will allow you to do those other projects without feeling a financial burden from smaller budgets. I had a friend that was a nanny and she was watching some kids and said she was looking through the dvds for something to turn on for the kids cause the family didnt have streaming services and ran across a documentary i had shot 10 years ago, that was my first feeling of leaving a legacy. Ok this dvd is still intact in these peoples home as long as it lives my name will live on. Its a great feeling in my own opinion. Now i am at a point in my career i can focus on less commission based work and more self driven projects. This excites me more than the last 5 years of my career,
Brandon: For me, Im trying to establish a foundation that can sustain any business on any scale that we may want to produce. My real desires for my life are a combination of creativity and sustainability for myself and loved ones. So there’s a piece of me that knows we need businesses and creative approaches to them to sustain the expansion we see for ourselves. That part fascinates me,to the point its a forever goal; my God dream. My creative side wants to make the movies from the audio drama that’s also a graphic novel with merchandise and a soundtrack lol but the business side and technical side all working together is the balance that will make this a multi family generational operation that can continue and expand even further. The galaxy we have created and how encompassing it already is, the potential is there. I see it, I know it. It has to be protected and established correctly. Once it is, this is a monumental thing we are cultivating right now.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Brandon – For myself, the way we move I think of Stan Lee and Virgil Abloh and Nipsey Hussle. There’s tons of essays I’ve read by philosophers and great thinkers, but the way Stan Lee was diverse and thorough about the Marvel universe, and the way Nipsey Hussle crafted his brand. The combination of those approaches really inspires me. The creativity to do everything a little different just to leave our own individual mark on it, that the Virgil. I feel like we’re George Lucas with better style.
Demario: I was really motivated by the Kevin Hart documentary series netflix put out. It truly encased a work ethic like no other and what it takes to build an empire in the entertainment industry today. I was always told if you want a successful man you will have a busy man. I try and remind my family that this is all a work in progress to better our future. Being able to express myself through forms of media alone is motivation in itself
