We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Who Fresh As Fitz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Who Fresh As Fitz below.
Alright, Who Fresh As Fitz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My Mother and Father Homeschooled me up until High school. Even though it was different not being around a ton of kids, it developed a direct and personal approach to my learning. It gave me and my Brother the opportunity to travel and seek creative outlets on a daily basis. It opened my eyes to Music and Art and flourished my love for them in a huge way.
Who Fresh As Fitz, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Writing music started at a young age for me. My Mother is a published children’s author, so I was introduced to poetry, word structure and rhyming almost out the womb. My Mother also was a Piano teacher, so one might say I was destined for a life of Musical endeavors.
I’ve been writing and producing for well over 15 years. I specialize in R&B, Hip hop and pop music. I write for singers on the daily and I am fluent in vocal background production, using melodies and triad harmonies to heighten the level of a song.
My strengths are in creating from scratch. I can develop whatever thoughts and ideas you may have, or develop lyrics of my own into well executed songs and production.
I have developed many podcast and YouTube intros and theme songs. Focusing lyrics based on the product and strengthening the overall presentation of the show.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
The term ‘non-creative’ is thrown around pretty often. I think everyone is creative in their own respect’s. For someone strictly into finance, they have to create spreadsheets and diagrams and business goals that they aim to achieve. That in itself is a form of personality and creation. It may not be putting together a bridge right before the second to last chorus in a ballad, but it definitely has its place in society. What we need is synchronicity between both types of artists. Everyone takes what they do personally and to heart. Both parties have to understand that we need art and business in order to prosper. If and when that happens is another story.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
My biggest resource would be my own mind. I wish back then I knew how to trust myself more. I would tell my younger self, it’s ok to trip, because now I know which cracks are in the road and how to maneuver around them correctly.
