We recently connected with WHITTNEY KENNEDY and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, WHITTNEY thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I started dipping berries in 2016. I never imagined that it would take me on this journey. I started out with no guidance, knowledge nor help other than a YouTube video. It took me a few years to figure out how to consistently create quality products and build my brand. In 2020, I conquered my fear and began to offer 1 on 1 berry dipping classes. I felt, if I had someone willing to offer their guidance and knowledge when I started than it wouldn’t have taken so long to get to where I am today.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Whittney Kennedy, the owner of Whitt’s Berries and founder of The Whitt Print. I started my treat journey in 2016. I wanted to gift my mom with an affordable gift but also from the heart. I couldn’t afford an expensive gift so I decided to make chocolate covered strawberries. I found a video on YouTube and that’s how it all began. I made a post on Facebook and others asked me to make some for them and they paid me. Now granted, the berries were ugly lol but with practice I had found my niche. Soon I began to be challenged by friends to make other treats and expand. By 2018, 2019 I had made a name for myself locally and other people were interested in learning. I was hesitant to teach because I felt I wasn’t good enough in my skill, I was nervous to be a leader but I finally had my first 1 on 1 class in 2020. Fast forward to today, I have held over 60+ 1 on 1 classes, 3 berry group classes and August will be my 4th treat group class.
I always try to share all I know and refer to other treat makers whose helped me grow.
In my 1 on 1 berry classes I always gave a planner so that they could write down future orders and goals. Last year I created my very own Treat maker’s planner available on my website. It’s Catered to the sweets industry.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
