We recently connected with Whitney Power and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Whitney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Gaining clientele and keeping them is not just about doing good work or having the best skills. It starts from their first interaction with you, whether that be from social media or the first time they walk into your place of business and meet you. Keys to running a successful business involve more than just a transaction. I strive to make everyone feel seen and heard in my nail salon. Everyone has a different story and background and even if you don’t have similar interests being a good listener is a key factor in the beauty industry. The way you conduct yourself and treat others reflects a lot in the way you handle your business and sets the tone for what clients are looking for in a service provider.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Whitney and I am the owner of The Beauty Vault nail studio located in Irving, Tx. We are a smaller intimate studio and are appointment based. We maintain strict safety standards in our salon and pride ourselves on the health of your nails. We offer manicures, builder/hard gel, acrylics, dazzle dry and pedicures. I specialize in wellness pedicures for those with troubled toenails, such as thick, discolored nail issues. I have been a licensed cosmetologist for about 7 years now and have made Texas my home this past year.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I always follow other beauty professionals in my area and make friends with any neighbors i might encounter. This helps spread awareness of my brand and make strong networking connections with others. There is plenty of business to go around in the beauty industry and I think there is a misconception that the person who does the same craft as you is your competition, but quite the opposite. When that person needs a vacation or sick day if you have built up a connection with someone they will see you as an ally and may make referrals to you if clients needs change and that provider can no longer accommodate them.
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
For years I’ve relied on social media platforms to help spread awareness to my brand. 2025 is the year I am now pivoting and trying a different marketing approach such as community/business collaborations. Just recently I have partnered with some apartment complexes that host community events for their residents. By attending these events I am able to showcase our brand and give back to the community at the same time as most events are free to residents and I am able to market my business through these channels.
