We were lucky to catch up with Whitney Lasseter recently and have shared our conversation below.
Whitney , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
I have many heartwarming stories from the work I do. There are actually very many that stick out. When I first began working with the medicine much of my focus was on working with drug addiction clients. I had this one kid who came in, his name was Mark, he was a 15 year heroin addict and he was only 30. He was living on the streets and shooting up daily. He came for treatment with us. He sat in ceremony with Bufo (5MeO-DMT) one time and had a miraculous life changing experience. I worked with him one on one for 6 weeks on his integration, I took him in to live with us so that I could monitor him and work with him through his integration process. It is going on 4 years since that happened and he is now happily married with one beautiful daughter and one on the way. He is working and started his own business.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the visionary and founder of ĀTMA Church ATMA means “Soul” in Sanskrit and our ATMA stands for All Tribes Medicine Assembly. We are a sacred ancestral medicine church. We utilize the sacred medicines as our sacrament to connect to the divine and to assist us in healing. I personally began this medicine journey over a decade ago and began facilitating ceremonies 6 years ago. The main. medicine that I work with is Bufo (5MeO-DMT) which is the strongest most powerful psychedelic on the planet. I have guided hundreds of people through their ceremonies with this medicine. I have worked with many types of people from professional athletes & Performing Artists to drug addiction clients & PTSD Veterans. My focus as of lately has been working less with super heavy trauma cases and more focused on working with High Performing Professionals and CEOS, Surgeons who ahave reached the pinnacle of success but are still feeling lost and searching for their soul.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I started this church I didnt really know exactly how it was going to fund itself – I just knew that I was guided to do it. We found a location that ideal but that was way out of my budget. We had a donor who provided us with the first months rent and deposit and it was an opportunity to take the plunge and see if we could make it work. It was an opportunity I could not pass up. To give perspective, the expense of the church was 10k per month when we started and I was not or had ever made anything close to 10k per month. I was at the time we decide to do this making around 4k per month. I am glad i followed my heart – it was a busy year but we never missed a month of that 10k rent and taking the plunge and having the faith paid off… by the time the lease was up, we had another magic and huge opportunity open to us that would have never happened had we not been in that 10k per month location.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
No. I know that all of the traumas and difficulties in my life happened on purpose to give me the compassion and strength to do the work that I do.
I love helping others and serving humanity. I love my work – I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. doing exactly what I was designed for and helping others discover their purpose. Nothing feels as good as that
