We were lucky to catch up with Whitney Chisholm recently and have shared our conversation below.

Whitney , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?

At Paige James Boutique we are all about spoiling our customers and showing them how much we appreciate them! Our loyal customers are the reason our small business has been able to be successful- from starting online to opening a storefront last June! We are not your typical boutique- when you shop with us you are family…we know your kids’ names, where your next vacation is going to be, and how you like to style your outfits! There is nothing more important to us than showing our customers how grateful we are for them, so we are constantly sending our handwritten thank you cards with surprises inside. We also do “Loyalty Days” where every customer receives a percentage back on what they spend in store credit. When fulfilling orders we often drop in extra items or even something as simple as one of our custom chapsticks to show that we care! We truly want everyone that shops with us (whether it’s online or in person) to feel like they are IMPORTANT and so incredibly appreciated. ”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I started Paige James Boutique online three years ago, and recently opened our first storefront in June of 2023. The business is named after our seven year old daughter- Paige James Chisholm. We are a retail store that specializes in women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, handbags, gifts, specialty items, and we even offer Permanent Jewelry- which has been quite popular recently!!! Permanent Jewelry is where we custom fit and weld together the chain to create bracelets, anklets, necklaces, etc. We offer this service in store full time and we are also mobile for special events, etc! What sets our store apart from the rest is you’ll always feel like family when you shop with us. Our favorite thing to do is help you pick out outfits and style you for different occasions- imagine going shopping with a girlfriend, but we are always here! We are proud of the customer base we have built and continue to grow, and our reviews and word of mouth referrals are a indication of how great we treat people!

How did you build your audience on social media?

We have worked really hard on building an audience on social media. Our main platform that most seem to follow and interact with us on is Facebook, but we are also very active on Instagram and more recently TikTok. The most important thing with any social media is consistency. We post VERY often and try to never miss any days unless on vacation. As a business owner I now see how social media is a full time job in itself, it can be challenging to find the time to do it all, but I notice if I do little bits here and there it doesn’t seem so overwhelming.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.

When I first started this business it was online and I was a stay at home mom. I really just wanted to sell some clothing and be able to make my own schedule. I quickly realized that if I wanted this to work I was going to need to go all in- a side hustle wasn’t going to cut it for me…so I decided to hire some help and tackle it full time. Fast forward a couple years and was able to open a store (my big scary dream) and I could not be happier to have be a real thing and not to mention out of my home! Being able to delegate and bring on help has made this possible.
