We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Whitney Buckland. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Whitney below.
Whitney , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
The one defining moment that shaped by life and career would be that my parents fostered independence. The was no helicoptering, or mowing down obstacles. This allowed me to make mistakes, and work through failure, consequences and brain storm solutions. There is nothing magical that happens at age 18 or 21 or 25 where we are automatically adults with higher levels of thinking and preparedness. Allowing independence to practice these things at a younger age, when the stakes are arguably lower, allows development and growth in these skills.
Whitney , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started this business to have a transparent aesthetics home in Avondale. I am an approachable provider that is specializing in subtle. My goal is to work with my patients to set goals for their skin and work through treatments to get them there. Shoreline Aesthetics is set apart by our evening and weekend availability. We provide convenient hours and opportunities for social gatherings in our studio for hosting bachelorettes, ladies’ nights out and more.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most helpful quality in anyone is humility. Humble yourself and be willing to be a student in many ways. Recognize your mistakes, own them, and do better. In most fields, there is no day one where you are great and the boss and on top of the world. I am the one taking out the trash, mopping, doing all the things to make success happen.
Another great idea in most fields for success is to find a mentor you can trust. If someone gives you an opportunity, show up and do your best work. Mentorship requires time from the mentor so show up and be ready to learn something, be engaged and find a way to be helpful.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation is built on honestly and integrity. I am never one to sell unobtainable results or products that I do not believe in. There is no sustainability in the one time quick service, that is flashy and expensive. I am here to build a relationship and guide people down avenues of options for skincare and facial rejuvenation.
