We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Whitney Bankston a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful projects I’ve Had, we’re Underestimated Goat 1 & 2, the reason being is because all my life I’ve been ooverlooked and underestimated, so it’s like with those projects I’m expressing those thoughts and feelings and letting the world know why I feel the way I feel.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For Those Of You who haven’t heard of me, I go By Slim Simaa, I’m An Artist, who makes great music and content and An Entrepreneur but my main focus I’ve been working on is music. I worked my way in the industry by networking, moving my feet more and talking to the right people, making the right connections, and being in the right place at the right time. Being patient and preserving, even when nothing was happen was the hardest thing I had to learn to do. I’ve learned that being successful takes time because if you rush it, you’ll mess it up. The thing I’m most proud of, is that I never gave up, no matter if the money was coming or not, no support or help, and no manager, Just my God, Faith, and Belief! It’s my Faith That Has Gotten Me This Far. I want to be that example in showing my family and fans that if I can do it, they can too, all You Got to do is just BELIEVE And Keep God 1st!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an Artist/ Creative is seeing other people happy and smiling from the joy I’m bringing with my gifts
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I can remember last year, I wasn’t working, didn’t have the funds to do as much as I wanted to do, didn’t really have the support I needed, unemployed, I was ready to throw in the towel, but it’s like God kept sending people to uplift me when I was down, God Sent strangers to bless me and it’s like God was telling me it’s not over, to not throw in the towel, and from that point on, I knew a resilient spirit was in me, that wouldn’t let me give up.
