We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Whitney Bailey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Whitney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Just Raw Cosmetics started as an idea in my mind and birthed into a wonderful all natural whipped body butter. Due to my own sensitivity with fragrances and chemicals my skin would become irritated or dry using store bought products. I desired to have soft, hydrated and glowing skin from head to toe. After trying many over the counter lotions, oils, etc. I thought “why not make my own body oil with natural products”? That’s how Just Raw came about with the intention to use only “raw”, natural, and organic products. When over-the-counter lotions would wear off within a few hours and my skin left itching from the fragrances and chemicals I’d become sadden thinking there wasn’t any solution to my dry dull skin. After much research I begin sampling different coconut oils and African Shea butters on my skin + hair. Once those worked for me individually I knew I wanted to find natural fragrance that could offer healing to my skin and scalp as well. That’s when I got introduced to the benefits of essential oils and all the amazing healing properties they offered + they smell AMAZING and are all natural from plants! After testing different blends on my own skin and receiving positive results I KNEW this idea would be worthwhile to pursue. Now, I could offer this medicine to everyone I know has suffered from the same skin issues such as myself. Along the way I learned I don’t have sensitive skin, my skin just wasn’t made for chemicals to be rubbed into it daily. The problem I’m solving is assisting in healing of the skin vs causing more harm to it. My unique approach to this is Love, I believe the intent + energy we put into something directly correlates to the effects it’ll render. My purpose is to bring health to our skin so I prepare each batch in a loving atmosphere with prayer and healing affirmations so energetically we’re being healed as well. I’m most excited about all the positive reviews I’ve received since publicly selling JUST RAW COSMETICS and look forward to the growth + reach of my brand.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Whitney Bailey, I am the creator plus owner of Just Raw Cosmetics. I provide medicine for the skin through body butter and oils. Buyers have reported back that my body butter has helped heal sun damaged sun, eczema, shingles, acne prone skin and more. What sets me apart is the loving energy I infuse into these products, pure love and prayer of healings. I am most proud of the positive results / reviews received since our release. The main things I wish our potential clients to know are the integrity, intentionality, and reliability went into making this butter. We search for the best quality ingredients and are only growing from here!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The best source of new clients has been word of mouth and great reviews. It’s become pretty routine once a buyer has tired our product they tell a friend or family member who then does the same after purchasing!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

While living in California some years ago I begin building my first inventory. In life there will always be constant change, after purchasing all the oils, jars, labels, packing boxes, tissue paper, etc. my life shifted, and I was relocating to Atlanta, Georgia. This move was abrupt with short notice and not much savings so I had to pack only what I could fit into my four suitcases and leave everything else behind and that included everything I have purchased for Just Raw Cosmetics for the first time to begin selling, it was deeply difficult to leave behind all the product I spent my hard earned money from waitressing to put into my dream, but I had no other choice. This could have disrupted my flow and caused me to be down on myself knowing I’d have to start over once I got back to Georgia but I didn’t let it. I stayed true to my original purpose and intention for creating this body butter and purchased everything all over again after having to pretty much throw away my first inventory, I’m happy I didn’t let that one hiccup prevent me from moving forward with building my dream because today I am proudly selling products daily earning income and bringing the glow back to dry skin.
