Whitney, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
My business was going through a major transformation as I moved from working with large corporate executives to focusing primarily on supporting women entrepreneurs in growing their businesses. While I made this pivot, I wanted to continue to scale my business at the same time. I was making a good consistent income each month but had more passion to serve a new group of clients in a new way. After working with hundreds of leaders, I know that we often set our goals way too low and underestimate what is possible for us. So, I decided to pick a big audacious goal for the month of July. I decided it would be a fun creative experiment to earn my annual income of $250K in just one month!
As the experiment began July 1, I knew I didn’t have the right service mix or price point to reach my goal. It would be nearly impossible to sell and deliver to the scale that my current services were at. So, I decided to introduce a new premium offer at $100K. This new offer would give me a new exclusive way of serving clients and I could easily hit my annual income goal by selling just 1 or 2 of these.
This month I decided to track my income differently, with a large-scale poster format on my office wall. I captured each and every sale and every dollar that came my way. I tracked all cash and all sales. While I was happy with the regular sales that came in, I knew I needed to stretch and try to sell my $100K offer. It took practice for me to get comfortable sharing the value, talking about the outcomes, and asking for $100K sale.
I use many mindset tools in my business and one are hypnotic recordings. I decided to make myself a recording that confirmed I sold $250K each month. It confirmed that everyone wanted to work with me. It reminded me that there were many buyers that the $100K offer was perfect for. I started to see new opportunities all around me and take action on them in a completely different way because I believed it was possible.
The first $50K came in from existing contracts with a few new surprise clients. Then came a request to work together privately at the executive level, which I was now selling for $100K. Then nearly exactly 30 days later, I sold one more additional $100K package. I cried all the way home in disbelief and life hasn’t been the same since.
At the time that my business was going through a major transformation, so was my personal life. It was near the end of the Pandemic, my engagement had just ended and I had moved from my home into an empty apartment. Because of the timing, I had no couch or bed to sleep in. It was a really hard period of life and business – and it was especially hard to feel successful when you’ve been sleeping on a mattress on the floor.
All of this to say, you can have absolutely anything you desire. You just have to be clear about what it is and have the right energy to receive it.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My business is built entirely on referrals and word of mouth. I’ve always looked to deliver exceptional client service and I routinely ask clients for referrals to other amazing people in their network that I should connect with. I also share success stories, client testimonials and case studies regularly on social media which helps to build interest in the type of work that I do with clients. At the end of the day, everyone has a brand and reputation in the market – so it’s important to manage your brand proactively and guard your reputation fiercely.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One important lesson I had to unlearn was an old money story from my childhood. I grew up in a small town in the prairies. People work extremely hard and are proud of the hard work they do. A common money story for people in my hometown is that you have to work hard to make money. I wanted to reprogram the way I think about this topic and change my beliefs so that I didn’t feel the need to work so hard to make money. I wanted money and all kinds of abundance to flow to me with ease. This takes continued focus to ensure I’m not working too hard and open to money flowing easy to me.
