We recently connected with Whitley Collins and have shared our conversation below.
Whitley, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea to open Whit Collins Studio after working in a chain salon for sometime. I wanted to specialize in services that we hadn’t offered or that wasn’t even a thought to do. In addition to that, I wanted to create a non judgmental environment where everyone would feel welcomed.
Growing up I had never heard anyone I knew to ever talk about body waxing, outside of a brow wax at your local nail shop. It was almost taboo to get a Brazilian or bikini wax.
With education, compassion and patience I’ve had many people to gravitate towards Whit Collins Studio. Even if I was just their first encounter with waxing, it has always been my goal to make them as comfortable and welcomed as possible.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Sure! My name is Whitley Collins. Most people know me by Whit. I’ve lived in Jacksonville the majority of my life but I’m originally from Albany,GA.
I attended and completed school for cosmetology in 2008. I held off leaping into the beauty industry for some time. After spending nine years in the hospitality field, I was confident and ready to give the beauty field a serious try.
With the help of family, friends and an amazing clientele, I was able to build Whit Collins Studio into a full body and brow waxing salon 5 years later.
Some of of signature services include our Brazilian wax, Brow Sculpt service as well as our popular Brow Sculpt+ Hybrid Tint service.
We also offer teen waxing and brow services.
Our mission here is “EveryBODY is welcome”. Our efforts are to create an atmosphere where every body type and gender can experience professional waxing services in a judgement free and comfortable environment.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My advice for building an audience on social media is pretty simple. Stay consistent and post in a way that would attract YOU as a client. If it’s something you wouldn’t want to see or hear from your service provider then don’t go it! You’re right crowd will find you.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth and social media has been THE BEST marketing tool for me so far! If you’re good or bad, people never hesitate to let their friends or family know. Always act with professionalism and genuineness. It goes such a long way.
