We recently connected with Whiskey Thomas and have shared our conversation below.
Whiskey, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
We just had our debut ‘1952’ release this year. It is eight songs that we all feel great about.
I came off of a five year songwriting binge that found clarity when I moved back home.
My uncle, who lives down the road from me, and myself had been talking about this idea for a while as I had been writing.
My grandparents were born in 1952 and they started this domino effect of people that really love music and view it as a necessity. They had bands, then Tommy, now us. So they got the first album title.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up watching my family play music, took up guitar at 9 or 10 or 8 or 11? I started singing in a 2000 GMC Sonoma at 16, played guitar for my uncle’s group at 19, started writing songs with intentions at 20, kept writing until I entered the country music game at 25 last year.
We all have the same goal for the music. I’m extremely thankful for my band and the people around us that support. The country music community is so awesome right now I think anybody that’s getting after it is happy to be a part of this era. We are seeing a lot of people leaning towards what is happening in Nashville and a lot of people have a real opportunity to be heard. This also means it’s a great time for fans to find exactly what they need from music.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
We all have an attitude towards making great music and wanting to contribute to that niche.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It is just fulfilling. The whole thing plays out like a story if you know when to look.
