We were lucky to catch up with Whamae Boayue recently and have shared our conversation below.
Whamae , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Talk to us about building your team? What was it like? What were some of the key challenges and what was your process like?
I started the MARK Total Body Wellness Network with a business development coach who took me through a very organized process of establishing the brand. Dominique Bradberry took me through the process of designing the logo and building an interactive website. This was about a 5 month process. She asked me a variety of questions during our consultations. She wanted to pull out the vision that was in my heart in a way that we be established for future clients. The key word that fueled establishing The MARK was “synergy”. Synergy is the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. The synergy of the brand was the components of wellness: fitness, nutrition, mental wellness and financial wellness. We create wellness plans that incorporate two or more of these coaching agents that produce a transformation in a persons life.
I honestly can’t believe that I was blessed to have such professionalism, innovation and direction from the start. Dominique helped me to establish a vision that continue to evolve from a healthy starting point. Eventually she had to move on to some other projects and life as a mom-prenuer; however, she certainly left her mark!
4 years later I brought in marketing coach Cookie Robinson who took the company into a new horizon with the relaunch of our website. She helped me develop the MARK Fit app as well as trained me to create eBooks, workshops and courses that created a global expansion. Cookie is still my right hand partner today.
Whamae , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Whamae Boayue. I am a holistic wellness and fitness coach. I’m also the founder and CEO of The MARK Total Body Wellness Network. My career and company is the product of my personal health journey. When I was 19 years old I found out that I had a cyst on my ovary. In the midst of being scheduled for surgery a friend recommended that I see a naturopathic doctor. This doctor would have what I call a “care-frontation” with me about my eating and lifestyle habits. He put me on a 30 day juice cleanse. The cyst which was the size of a grapefruit dissolved within a week of juicing. That was the beginning. 25 years of growth, education and eventually building The MARK. I honestly never thought that this would be my career because I’ve always been more into creative arts such as singing and acting. The beautiful thing is that I get to use my creativity with content and marketing through commercials and social media.
Our wellness plans consist of MARK FIT, POWER JUICERS and The MARK WELLNESS EMPOWERMENT programs all designed to provide clients with the tools they need to unlock a sustainable lifestyle. Our team consist of fitness, nutrition, financial and mental health experts, professionals and partnerships who ensure that our clients get amazing results!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
This how journey for me has been about resilience. Resilience will pull you out of comfort zones. I’m at the point in the story of my journey as the founder and CEO where I am being stretch into new territory. Building and establishing The MARK online has been a very fluid adventure without any overhead or debt. However, things are expanding as we prepare to build The MARK TBWN Wellness Center in Columbus, Ohio. As exciting as it sounds, it’s been a new level of personal development for me. We are currently in the crowdfunding phase. Crowdfunding is very important to the process because The MARK has always been about the people and about community. Having people vested in this new new venture allows them to have a stake in creating a place that they value deeply. I and truly growing into a CEO not for title or show but true function. The resilience rendered is creating a new level of maturity and professionalism that will be needed.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
The main product within The MARK has been POWER JUICERS. These are 3 and 7 day low glycemic blends of organic juices for cleansing and resetting the body. It comes with a complete plan and resources. I was in the co-op kitchen creating sometimes 100 blends per week. It was so taxing on my body and the cost to make versus the retail was always an up and down issue. 3 years ago I partnered with organic superfood and farm to family company Purium. This was a game changer! We added their 90 day reset program The Ultimate Lifestyle Transformation as an accelerator of POWER JUICERS! It was a hit for our clientele. It tripled the revenue of the company in less than two years and because our biggest selling product.
Brand partnerships are a powerful way to expand beyond the limitations of what a company provides. Purium and The MARK have been in complete alignment since day one. The partnership also brought in a unique opportunity for our clients to make a residual as a partner by becoming a “walking billboard”. Purium also offered me as a leader more education and knowledge on what’s happening in the food industry as well as personal development and mastermind coaching.
