Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Wesley Eagle. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Wesley, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always been a dreamer. As a kid, my days were filled with storytelling, giving life to my stuffed animals with silly voices, and acting out epic battles with action figures. I loved making the mundane magical. In high school, that passion evolved—I found my way to the stage through plays and chorus, constantly immersed in creativity. But there was something deeper, an almost primal drive to do something bigger with my life.
When I turned 18, I was sure I’d found my calling: film school. Movies had always felt like a gateway to another world. So, I threw myself into it, imagining I’d end up directing the next iconic blockbuster or writing a screenplay that would touch the world. I was living the dream I thought I wanted since I was a spritely, 9 year old dreamer.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Wesley Eagle, a 33 year old Seattle-based voice actor who thrives on creativity and fun. I’ve always been a dreamer—growing up, my imagination was a constant companion. From crafting stories to giving voices to my stuffed animals and acting out magical adventures, I knew early on that I was meant to create. I found outlets for this in high school through theater and chorus, and by the time I was 18, my passion for film pushed me toward film school. I thought I’d found my path, imagining a future as a director or screenwriter.
But after graduating and working in the film industry, I realized something wasn’t right. The reality didn’t match the dream I had built in my mind. While I still loved telling stories, the film industry didn’t allow me to express myself in the way I craved. Yet I remained certain of one thing: I was destined to be a creator. It was embedded in me—something I’d felt since I was nine years old. I just needed to find the right medium.
Then came the unexpected moment that changed everything. An old friend from film school reached out, remembering some goofy voices I’d done at a party years earlier. He was working on an animated project and needed someone to voice a character. I agreed, thinking it’d be a fun one-off gig. But when I stepped into the recording booth, everything clicked. I was instantly hooked. It wasn’t just work—it was pure joy. I felt like a kid again, creating worlds with my voice. I knew right then and there: This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
At that point, transitioning to radio seemed like a logical next step. I wanted to build my voiceover skills, and radio offered a platform to do that while honing my technical chops. But as I delved deeper, I found that radio, while valuable, didn’t allow me to fully stretch my creative wings. It felt too confined, and I longed for the expansive freedom I’d experienced in that booth. Still, it was a crucial step in shaping me as a voice actor, teaching me about the nuances of recording and the technical side of the craft.
Today, my focus is on bringing characters and stories to life through voice acting. I offer a wide range of services, including commercials, promos, audiobooks, animation, and video games. My true passion lies in character work—taking on different personalities, experimenting with unique vocal tones, and creating immersive, memorable experiences. From grizzled warriors in video games to whimsical creatures in animated projects, I aim to bring authenticity and depth to every role.
What sets me apart is my willingness to dive deep into character creation. I don’t just read lines; I become the character. If I had the means of dressing up as one in the booth, I would. My approach is both analytical and instinctual—understanding the script’s intention, then adding my own Wesley spark to make the character come alive. Clients have often told me that I bring a unique energy and versatility to projects, delivering performances that are not only technically sound but also emotionally resonant.
I’m proud of the journey I’ve taken, from a creative kid voicing my action figures and pets, to a professional voice actor with a professional home studio outfitted with the best high-end equipment money can buy. It’s not just about the voice itself; it’s about the process of bringing a character to life in a way that feels real and impactful, while maintaining that youthful energy. I am definitely still a kid at heart. I’m here to solve problems for clients by making their stories compelling and unforgettable, whether it’s creating a dynamic commercial, an engaging audiobook, or a memorable character for an animated series.
For potential clients, fans, and followers, I want you to know that my brand is built on passion, authenticity, and a deep love for storytelling. I’m all about creating connections—whether it’s making an audience laugh, cry, or think deeply. I bring my whole self to every project, including my sarcasm and humor, and I’m committed to delivering performances that elevate the story, enhance the brand, or add an unexpected twist to a character. Voice acting, for me, isn’t just a profession; it’s the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Growing up, cartoons were more than just entertainment for me—they were an escape, a lifeline. I was transported to a fun and exciting world, far better than my own. When times were tough, certain cartoon characters became my happy place. Shaggy from Scooby-Doo was one of them—his carefree spirit brought me comfort during some of my hardest moments. I related to him. And it wasn’t just the shows; having a plushy or action figure of one of those characters offered me a tangible source of solace, something I could hold onto when I needed it most.
Looking back, I’m deeply grateful to the voice actors who brought those characters to life. They helped me find joy and escape during a challenging childhood, and I recognize the impact they had on shaping my love for this craft. Now, as a voice actor myself, my greatest dream is to give that same gift to children today. I want to create characters that kids can look up to, find comfort in, or use as a source of happiness—just like I did.
So, the core of my mission is to be part of stories that bring light, joy, and a sense of wonder to young audiences. I hope that one day, my voice will bring someone else the same kind of joy and escape that meant the world to a young Wesley. That maybe some kid out there can find me as an escape from whatever they are going through. That’s what keeps me going, and it’s the heart of everything I aim to do in my career.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Several resources have shaped my management and entrepreneurial philosophy, especially within the voice acting world. The documentary I Know That Voice had a profound impact on me. It dives deep into the world of voice acting, exploring the passion, technique, and dedication that define the craft. It was one of the first times I truly felt seen in my field, as it showcased the heart and soul behind the voices that shape our favorite characters.
When it comes to books, Voice-Over Voice Actor and The Art of Voice Acting have been instrumental in guiding my journey. These books are practical, offering insights into everything from vocal techniques to the business side of voice work. They’ve helped me not only refine my craft but also better understand how to navigate the industry from a business standpoint. Another influential read has been A Hero’s Journey, which isn’t directly about voice acting but has influenced my approach to storytelling and character development. It speaks to the universal themes of growth, challenge, and transformation—elements that are at the core of any good story and, by extension, any successful voiceover performance.
Beyond books and films, I believe that constant learning is essential. I’ve found immense value in working with coaches and learning from fellow voice actors and actors. There’s always something new to pick up, whether it’s a subtle vocal technique or a different approach to marketing yourself. The voice acting community thrives on collaboration, and I’ve made it a point to remain humble, open-minded, and receptive to feedback. I genuinely believe that constructive criticism is one of the greatest gifts you can receive, as it allows you to grow and adapt.
Another essential part of my growth has been attending voice conferences, such as the That’s Voiceover Expo in Los Angeles, the One Voice Conference in Dallas, and VO Atlanta. These events are invaluable for marketing, learning, and connecting with others in the industry. Meeting fellow voice actors, agents, and producers has broadened my network and provided new perspectives. I always leave these conferences feeling inspired, equipped with fresh ideas, and eager to implement new strategies in my work.
At the heart of my philosophy is a deep love for the craft and a strong sense of community. I aim to nurture both by staying true to the passion that got me started and by supporting those around me. It’s not just about personal success; it’s about contributing to a creative field that has given me so much. This approach keeps me grounded, motivated, and constantly evolving, both as an artist and as a professional.
