We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wendy Milligan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wendy below.
Wendy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
What stands out for me as being a valuable lesson over the span of my work history, is that in various fields where so many professionals have the same training or skillset, those same professionals could, to some degree, be considered interchangeable. Everyone knows a realtor so what does it matter which one you use right? Wrong.
What sets professionals apart in their respective careers besides being ‘good at their job’, is simply their ability to care about their work performance and for those around them. The practice of patience, attention, engagement, collaboration, accountability, respect and integrity are not only critical attributes in humanity but resoundingly more important for supporting a strong work ethic, than aptitude or expertise any day.

Wendy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always found great pleasure in being of service to others. From my early days in the restaurant industry to eventually transitioning from a twenty five year career in healthcare. Real estate has allowed me to apply the various skills I’ve acquired along the way to my interactions with others during the real estate process.
There are several competent Realtors® out there, but I endeavor to distinguish myself as a professional my clients can trust and depend on to achieve the best possible outcomes for their needs. My clients are not treated as customers, because we most often become friends. The opposing agents are not my competition, but colleagues that I will collaborate with to achieve the most effective results for all parties involved.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
A person’s reputation ultimately defines their future opportunities. Having said this, I am always striving to represent my clients by truly listening to their goals and determining the best course of action to execute them. Whether my clients are limited by experience, time, finances, geography or any other challenge, they can depend on me to take the time to advise them on the process and/or rationale for making advantageous decisions. I will advise them about the current market and will convey informed strategic possibilities to improve their likelihood to attain the highest level of success. My clients can most importantly trust that I will always advocate on their behalf and provide honest feedback along the way.
Real estate involves several other parties and I aspire to have a reputation as a professional who exhibits courtesy, dependability and mutual respect for the other agents, lenders, vendors and customers . This may seem insignificant, but I always answer my phone (or respond as quickly as possible), because I strongly believe that communication and taking a collaborative approach to serving our clients is the most effective way to obtain reliably successful transactions.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My clientele will only continue to grow if I provide my buyers and sellers with a pleasurable experience throughout their real estate transaction. This is not to imply that there won’t be adverse predicaments along the way, but leading them through the unexpected challenges will help alleviate stressors in order to focus on reaching viable solutions. Strategy really comes into play in this market as do negotiations on their behalf. When clients are happy with the way I represented them, they are more likely to call me for repeat business and/or refer me to their friends and family. Growth is almost inevitable when clients are satisfied!
