We were lucky to catch up with Wendy English recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Wendy, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Psalms Alive (w/ watercolor flowers and scripture) was dedicated to my dear friend, Vicki Wehmeyer, who recently passed away. She was an imaculate flower gardener and a friend to many. She would meet you with the sweetest grace and words to lift up and move you forward. In her 60’s she walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain as a step towards her longing to be close to God. Her life was vibrant with intentionality towards what mattered most…a friendship I will always treasure deeply.
Wendy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi there! It’s so nice to meet you and I hope you thoroughly enjoy my books! Each book is filled with treasures of encouragement and sweet golden truths for little ones as well as all ages. I live in beautiful Colorado where I love peppermint tea, picking bouquets from my flower garden, dark chocolate and a simple walk with our blue skies. My life is filled with daily adventures as a pastor, mother of four and director of a vibrant preschool. My heart wants to strengthen the foundation of the people that come across my path; showing them their deep worth, one-of-a-kind destiny and the beauty of God’s Kingdom filled with light, forever love and green paths of goodness!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My books bring beauty to each day, intentionality to parenting and memories to kids!
I love the line by Toby Mac, “I don’t want to gain the whole world and lose my soul.” It’s easy to give our children everything they need physically and extracurricularly and yet end up missing what matters most and what will be the glue to get them through; a deep, rich faith filled with character and meaning. Yet many resources for children in this area lack vibrancy and connection to their lives in this day. That’s why I’m here and I invite you to take a look!

Any advice for managing a team?
These creative books are a side to my other jobs as a Pastor and Preschool Director. I work hard at maintaining a positive team spirit and high morale in all environments. Here are a few things that help:
1. Believe the best in people
2. Remember our battles is not against people, but there is a bigger battle underneath it all
3. Speak words of life and encouragement when you think them
4. Look for the gold and the good. Have grace for the rest
5. Speak up when you need to, but give it 24 hours when you’re upset
