We recently connected with WENDY DARLING and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, WENDY thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
When I was young, I was definitely a risk taker. If I was offered a challenge, I took it (trusting I would figure it out). At age 28 I accepted the position of Dean of Students for Semester at Sea. We had over 700 students, living on a ship, sailing around the world. It was a huge undertaking, but I did it! However, after a serious accident in 1990, my confidence was severely shaken. VERY long story, short, I passed out while outside of the Dallas airport, falling over a ledge and dropping 25 feet. I shattered my leg, had back fractures, and later diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. My husband filed for divorce and was awarded full custody of our son, who was only 4. I was devastated. But it started me on a deeper discovery of me. I also began to open up and cultivate my healing gifts and processes that are now the Miraculous Living Method, I help business owners grow their business & make more money, singles attract love, couples replenish their relationship, individual improve their health and release weight. And prior to my accident, I had NO knowledge of energy and transformational work whatsoever, so it took time to get used to all of this. It also took time to regain confidence in myself. And just now, at the wonderful age of 71, I took another leap of faith, moving from San Diego to Sarasota, FL. My last book, Create Your Miraculous Life – It’s NEVER Too Late provides inspiration and direction for fulfilling your deepest desires. I believe I was ‘guided’ to move to Florida, to be an example, that it truly is NEVER too late! Once it was clear that I was going to move, the whole process has been miraculous. From finding my new home, to getting an amazing moving company, to making new friends, even attracting new clients. I will admit, there were moments when my brain was trying to process this major change, but with the Miraculous Living Method, I was able to calm my mind, live from my heart and trust the process. You can do that too!

WENDY, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
After returning from being Dean of Students for Semester at Sea (its only a semester’s appointment) in 1979, I discovered the field of Training and Development. I worked under the Missouri governor’s office, overseeing all 15 state departments. It was an excellent training ground. I started my own business in 1981. However, after my accident around 1991, I began to develop personal growth seminars and opened my coaching practice. I also continued to speak, more often for entrepreneurs and women’s groups. I have been blessed to have worked with thousands of people, and hundreds of thousands speaking. I’ve had 2 radio shows, written two books. Because I was so traumatized from my accident and losing custody of my son, I had a passion for personal growth. I was searching for ways to ‘end the pain.’ Today I am an international author, professional speaker, trainer, retreat and seminar facilitator, mentor and coach. What I love the most is I have the honor and privilege of supporting individuals to turn their dreams into reality – really! If you feel like you keep bumping up against the same wall, I can find what’s interfering and release the interference. There is also a brain training component with the Miraculous Living Method, that literally rewires your mind, so you your thoughts are now in alignment with the life you have been wanting to experience. Want to make more money? Ok! Want to attract the love of your life? Yes please. Want replenish your relationship? Yes we can. Heal from a trauma? Easy. Release excess weight? That too. And I’ve also helped youth recover from personal and academic challenges. Although I don’t really believe this is true, SO many of my clients have dubbed me their personal Fairy Godmother, since I support them in turning their dreams into reality. I have to admit, that’s a pretty cool job title.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I had a serious accident, now 32 years ago. I was traveling to work with a Fortune 100 company, however, I was very sick. Still, I decided to make the trip. Since I was sick to my stomach, I went outside the airport to get some fresh air. I passed out, fell over a ledge and fell 25 feet. My leg was shattered, my back fractured and I was later diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. However, my body was a mere reflection of how broken my life would be. My former husband came to the hospital, around week 4, suitcases packed, saying he no longer wanted to be married. And although I take full responsibility for my portion that contributed to that decision, you might agree the timing was not exactly optimal (not that it ever would be). But the even harsher blow came when we went to court. He was awarded full custody of our son, who was only 4 at that time. EVERYTHING about my life literally took a beating: my health, my marriage, the relationship with my son and my career. And as unsettling and devastating as it all was, it was also a time of both reflection and growth. I had to take an honest look at the choices and decisions I had made up to that point in my life and what was now going to be different to dig out of this big hole I managed to find myself in. What ended up happening was truly miraculous.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
After my accident, I took a very honest look at myself and my life. What I loved, what I didn’t. How I had neglected taking care of myself and what needed to be different. How I neglected my husband. How I was overly invested in my career. But what was really clear, was how much I loved being my son’s mom. It was during this time of recovery and healing that I learned how to meditate (to help with all the trauma). It was during this time that I began receiving and cultivating my healing gifts and processes. And even though I wish my journey had been easier, I am forever grateful that I now can provide assistance to others, turning their personal and professional dreams into reality MUCH EASIER AND MUCH FASTER. So I now help people grow their businesses and make more money; singles attract love, couples replenish their relationship, improve health and release excess weight. I actually can be grateful for the struggles of my past, since I now can be a part of having people experience the miracles of life.
I have pivoted multiple times in my life, even just recently moving from San Diego to Sarasota.
I always wanted to be the best I could be, & offer the best to my clients.
So I continually stretched myself, providing opportunities for growth.
One thing I know for sure: NEVER GIVE UP! If there is a desire in your heart, it’s your truth. And it’s important to keep taking steps to close the gap from where you are to where you want to be. KEEP PURSUING, keep growing, keep going.
