Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Wendi White. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Wendi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s go back in time a bit – can you share a story of a time when you learned an important lesson during your education?
I was in high school I had the opportunity to be exposed to Accounting. I was in about 10th or 11th grade I signed up for the Accounting elective. I still remember Mrs. Palmer. I got to learn how to balance my checkbook, debits/credits, and how to prepare tax returns. The class interested me because of the math aspect, I love numbers, My mom and sister both hold degrees in business, it runs in the family. Taking that class help to shape me into the woman I am today. I went to college at North Carolina A&T State University majoring in Accounting. I have been blessed to work with a wide range of company this past 14 years. Ranging from agriculture, petroleum, and aerospace industries. I started my own business 3 years ago doing what I felt like I feel in love with in high school.
Thanks,
Wendi White
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I work full-time job at an accounting firm while also working my business of three years Wendi Consulting, LLC part time. I have over 14 years of accounting and auditing experience across several businesses, I specialize in personal and small business tax preparation, conducting non-profit audits/agreed upon procedures, providing full-service outsourced accounting. I enjoy working with small business owners and educating them about their finances. It helps to prepare when doing taxes.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I put up a couple hundred dollars. I needed funds for a business license with the state, LLC fee, and website. I worked that first year only investing when I had money I earned so that I could potentially break even.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I created a business page on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn first since I knew the most people on them. I used my personal network to advertise my business page and received followers organically. Once I had followers I posted on business page and continued to gain followers from networking at public events.
