We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wen Soon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wen below.
Wen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
One of the most helpful advice is usually regarding conflict with other people. One advice I give is to reframe problems away from people as the source of the problem. It shifts from a “you” vs “me” problem into a “us against the problem”. When we put people as the source of the problem, they will get defensive and disconnect. I work with them to understand the difference so that they can resolve conflicts better with others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
One of the aspects that separates me from other people is the language that I help people change. I believe that the way we speak to ourselves and others give insight into how we interact with the world. By speaking to ourselves and others in healthier ways, I believe it creates a better environment for everyone.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I think I had to unlearn how to put so much weight into other people’s opinions about me. I think it stemmed from my childhood where I cared a lot about what people thought about me. However, I started to realize that my opinion and who I am authentically matters more than pretending to be someone I am not.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Trust in my own abilities and strengths is better than always looking to see what I am missing. I am confident in what I am good at and lean into those rather than trying to be like everyone else.
