We were lucky to catch up with Wellington Marinho recently and have shared our conversation below.
Wellington, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Yes, I developed a system for my field, interior design, using one of the latest technology to optimize the way that design floor plans for my clients. Its allow me to be more accurate and spend less time to delivery the design.
Wellington, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Sure, I’m an entrepreneur…I have my own business in Architecture and interior design for high end customer in Dallas and worldwide. As I told before my process of work allow me spending less time and being more accurate. Work/life balance is important to me so I had to develop my own system in the interior design industry to be different than the standards. My style is focused in relaxing, inviting and cozy spaces mixing luxury with that home feeling.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that to have a small business doesn’t mean that are a 100% correct or the customer are 100% correct. I had to unlearn that to say yes for everything doesn’t make me or the customer happy. My standards are quality of work, you can not get this saying yes for everything.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Absolutely, I’m a self taught learning person. Of course I have my degree in architecture and urbanism, but what they don’t teach is everything that the real world needs from you. So all software, design technics, technical skills all of them depended on my resilience to focus on what I wanted to be, reading, improving myself with courses, webinars and DIY have been doing teaching several lessons about resilience, if you want, you can get it.
