Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Weijin Feng. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Weijin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
In my memory, I’ve always had a slight passion for painting, but I never thought I would pursue formal art education. It wasn’t until high school, just before entering university, that I took an art course before exams. I remember back then, the art forms I was exposed to were quite limited, so I started searching for a lot of information about painting online, including books, films, and visual content related to music, like music videos and album covers. During university, I also tried to engage in discussions and have fun with classmates from different majors. As time went on, I found myself developing a deep interest in many different forms of art. After graduation, I began experimenting with various mediums to express myself, and the things I wanted to communicate also changed many times. I gradually realized that this is the field I want to dedicate my life to exploring. Through creating, I met some friends and supporters, and I began to understand that expressing oneself is also a way of conveying emotions. I started to realize that art is not just a hobby for me; it can also be a career path, and I am still continuously exploring it.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Weijin Feng(Ginwawa), a freelance artist working across various creative disciplines. Watercolor was my first love—it shaped my artistic journey during university and continues to influence my work today. Music is another endless source of inspiration, fueling my imagination in unexpected ways.
I find magic in the small details of everyday life, especially in nature: animals, plants, stones, fungi… These elements constantly spark new ideas in my art. While I started with illustration to capture the whimsical worlds in my mind, I gradually craved something more tangible. That’s how I discovered ceramics—a medium I’ve grown to adore.
Now, my work spans graphic design, illustration, and handcrafted ceramic pieces. Moving forward, I hope to weave together observations from life, the beauty of nature, and boundless imagination into creations that resonate with others.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the greatest reward lies in that sincere confrontation with myself—translating inner truths into tangible creations. Every piece, whether painting, ceramic, or melody, becomes a bridge between my soul and the world. The process itself is reciprocal: as I pour myself into the work, it demands my devotion, much like preparing a nourishing meal for someone you love. That alchemy—where raw emotion meets disciplined craft, where imperfections breathe life—is what makes art pulse with warmth. When others feel that heartbeat in what I’ve made, the circle completes.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Not exactly a predefined mission—more like following an organic current. For me, creating feels like emotional sediment settling naturally, or like ancient knot-writing that quietly records life’s subtle shifts. Each piece becomes a metabolic trace of where I’ve been. I simply prefer to let expression unfold as instinctively as breathing.
