We recently connected with Wavez Brewer and have shared our conversation below.
Wavez, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally was when I was introduced to anime as a kid. Growing up, I went through really difficult times and anime was a safe space of fun and imagination! I enjoy the immersive storytelling and how the characters can evoke so much emotion within their voices. These characters and the talented people that voice act them showed me that anything is possible as long as I believe in myself and that really inspired me to become the next voice a child hears, maybe in their hardest moments that pushes them to keep moving forward and believe in themselves.
Wavez, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So two big things I’m doing are currently voice acting and being an author for my manga. Voice acting has always been something I was drawn to after constantly training my voice during my time at my Performing Art school that I went to for acting & choir. I got into the industry through connections and relationships I’ve acquired from being a content creator and going viral on Tik Tok. My discipline is that I work for 36 hours straight I believe that wasting 8 hours of sleep only with 24 hours is a waste of time so I work twice as hard so I can get half of what the next person has.
My second heavy time investment is my manga called “Nexus: Divine Link”, a story about 50 cards that hold powerful celestial beings given to certain humans that are worthy to fight along side them in a battle royal to see who will come out on top. The story will heavily represent and shed light on those who suffer from mental and physical disabilities or health issues. I’ve got into this industry from working with different manga artists for voice acting and really would love to share my story and shine light a community that I’m heavily involved in.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
hmm what I find most rewarding? to be honest I haven’t felt rewarded yet. I’m not where I wanna be, I’m starving and obsessed with my goal of voicing in anime and cartoons that I work myself like crazy. even when I know I’ve taken a lot of steps I appreciate that I’m moving forward but I don’t feel as if its rewarding because I’m so much hungry for more but something I appreciate the most is being able to have my own panel at dream con and speak as a special guest on how I became such a heavy impact in the voice over community.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
to become #1 and I will do whatever it takes.
