We recently connected with Warith Jumu’ah and have shared our conversation below.
Warith, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
June 2024 will make Passionate Rebel 10 years old. Sheeeeesh…..10 years definitely sounds like an overnight success lol.
Making it to 10 years in business as an entrepreneur isn’t as easy as people think it is. Takes a lot of sacrifice, tears, dedication, faith walking, disappointment, and true grit to be a Passionate Rebel who goes out into the world to build a foundation/maintain it. In the beginning, I stood on my faith and belief that Passionate Rebel needed to be created. My purpose in this life was and still is to represent Passionate Rebels across the world.
At the time of starting the brand, I used unemployment payments to purchase everything I needed i.e, camera for photography, clothing and merchandise that would be purchased by people, business cards, and marketing tools.
Passionate Rebel always represented our community. We work closely with the youth to provide internship opportunities, as well as host Passionate Rebel workshops throughout various school districts. Prior to having relationships and partnerships with community organizations, schools, or people in general, Passionate Rebel used Career Day opportunities to speak to the youth and make our connections. We lacked money in the beginning as a start up, so free opportunities such as Career Days gave us the chance to get into schools and communities to display what we represented. People were able to see our clothing, as well as hear our voice we were working toward establishing.
Overall, we just wanted to be seen and become established enough to be seen as valuable. Today in 2024, Passionate Rebel has been selected as a Forbes member, recognized on multiple media platforms, will be featured in a Paris Fashion Week show in Paris in September 2024, currently works with various clothing manufacturers in producing high quality Passionate Rebel Apparel, and has become an approved Educational Vendor in various school districts.
Strategically, I wanted to be accepted in a fashion where things we believe are what others believe in. To scale up, go into the lanes and knock on doors that allow people to see themselves in what you’re doing.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The genuine care we possess aids us in developing a great reputation within our community. Passionate Rebel has become a community where individuals of all ages can find inspiration and guidance. I’ve become a role model for young aspiring entrepreneurs, who look to me for guidance on how to navigate the challenges of starting a business. I remind them that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
Just showing care and helping inspire others is what’s most important to the brand. With that mindset and want, our market of people are able to relate to the brand and see the vision.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2014, I hit a pivot when I was laid off from my job. That was the moment that redefined the importance of creating your own. Passionate Rebel was truly birthed from hardship. Being laid off from your job is one thing, but waiting around to be given an opportunity so you can continue to live is another thing. I didn’t have time to wait for anyone because time continued to tick. Within that time, I worked to get Passionate Rebel to some height that allowed me to continue to build on my resume and reinvigorate my spirit. That pivot allowed me to continue to thrive and create a path outside the traditional sense of doing things. As a Passionate Rebel, the message became clear: be a rebel for your passion and make things happen every chance you get.
