We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful War Pact. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with War Pact below.
War Pact, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
“Growing up having my dad play sick music all the time with me in the car. I remember listening to just the low parts of the song and I thought it was cool. I wanted to just hear that part only so I would listen to just bass tracks. I wanted to do that, I started learning the names of all the bassist from the bands I loved. Then when I was 7 my dad bought me a cheap Ibanez bass. It went on from there for 2 years and thought guitar was also cool so I picked that up. 13 years of playing all together.” -Tank, guitarist of the band
“When I first got into drumming a few years ago, I started off just thinking drums were a cool instrument. Overtime I started to want to get more serious and started hoping that I could do it for a long time and maybe even as a full time thing. When I started playing with this band I became more dedicated to the craft and my aspiration grew” -Tanner, drummer of the band
“When I was about 15 I started listening to gateway metal bands and watching live videos of them, loved how charismatic and badass the guitar players were so I began trying to play guitar. Eventually I started playing in some bands and realized I wanted to devote all my time to playing guitar. I also learned how to be a metal singer from singing to Metallica’s And Justice For All album in the car on the way to work, and eventually ended up putting singing and guitar together.” -Nate
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re a crossover-thrash band, combining elements from thrash metal, hardcore punk, and any other genres we feel like including here and there. Some of the many influences to our sound comes from bands like Power Trip, Municipal Waste, early Sepultura, and others. We ultimately just want to make music that we enjoy and hope that others enjoy just as much.
We’re proud of what we’ve been able to write and put out so far, as well as the fan base we’ve gained already. We hope that we can keep this up for as long as possible and have fun doing so.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Some ways people can support artist and bands, and the scenes they’re in, is to simply just show their support for bands. Whether that’s going to their shows, buying their merch and music, listening to their songs, or interacting with their social media accounts. If you stay involved with scenes it helps them grow too.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
At the end of the day, we all just want to have fun and enjoy playing music together. Of course it would be amazing if we could keep growing our audience and make somewhat of a living off of our music, but even if that doesn’t happen, we’re all proud of where we’ve gotten together.
