Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Wanessa Couto. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Wanessa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
If I could go back in time, I would have started my business a little later. I launched it at just 16 years old, and while I’m proud of that, I now see the value in taking more time to fully prepare. I wish I had understood more about the many details that go into running a business before diving in.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
With over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, my journey began with a deep passion for hair care and a desire to help others feel their best. I had the privilege of training with some of the most respected hairstylists in Brazil and abroad, which gave me a strong foundation and a global perspective on beauty and technique.
What truly drives me is creating personalized styles that not only enhance my clients’ natural beauty but also prioritize the health and integrity of their hair. My work goes far beyond styling—it’s about restoring confidence, elevating self-esteem, and creating a space where each person feels seen, valued, and beautiful.
I’m incredibly proud of my journey, especially the way my work impacts the lives of my clients. For me, it’s not just about hair—it’s about transformation. Every client who sits in my chair receives care, intention, and a style that reflects who they are.
What sets my brand apart is this personal, human approach. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all beauty. I take the time to understand my clients’ lifestyle, preferences, and hair goals so I can deliver results that truly align with who they are.
Whether someone is coming to me for a total makeover or just a refresh, my goal is always the same: to help them walk away feeling empowered, confident, and radiant.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I started working in the U.S., I found it necessary to offer a variety of services—hair, skincare, and brows—just to financially support myself. But deep down, my true passion was always hair. I knew I wanted to make a difference in that area, but at the time, I couldn’t afford to let go of the other services.
Everything changed after I attended a conceptual event in Miami, surrounded by inspiring professionals who were truly excelling in their craft. That experience was a turning point for me—it lit a fire within. I left that event with a clear decision: I was going to become excellent at what I love most—hair.
I gave myself six months to transition fully. I started posting only about blonde hair and hair treatments on my social media, and soon my schedule began to fill with the exact kind of clients I wanted to serve. Within just one month, I was able to stop offering other services and focus entirely on hair care. It was a powerful reminder that when you align with your passion and take bold steps, the right opportunities follow.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
believe what helped me build my reputation was consistently delivering results with professionalism and care. I always focused on standing out by combining beautiful color work with a strong commitment to preserving the health of the hair.
Clients could see the difference—not just in the results, but in how I approached each service with attention, honesty, and dedication. Many of them began sharing their experiences and results with friends and family, and that word-of-mouth naturally helped my clientele grow. Building trust and delivering real, lasting results has been the foundation of my success.
