We recently connected with Walter Travers and have shared our conversation below.
Walter, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The inception of my YouTube channel stemmed from my prior experience within the banking sector. While employed in various banking roles, I found immense satisfaction in assisting individuals with their financial matters. Recognizing the uniqueness of each person’s circumstances, I consistently strived to tailor solutions and recommend suitable products for my clients. Following several months of achieving top-tier conversion rates within my company, I reached a point where harnessing my expertise for self-directed endeavors became imperative. At that point, The Credit Card Maestro began and I am very happy I chose to start.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Walter Travers and I am a travel influencer and credit expert. My YouTube channel offers suggestions and recommendations surrounding credit, credit tips, and maximizing credit card points for travel.
My love for helping people with credit and traveling gave me the idea to combine the two. What sets me apart from others is that I like to use what I call the K.I.S.S method. The KISS method stands for “keep it simple”. Finances can be overwhelming so I make sure to make it as simple as possible. I take my time and use simple examples to get to the end goal: solving your problems.
I am most proud of the lives that I’ve changed through my YouTube videos, shorts, reels, and my brand new ebook “How To Establish Excellent Credit For Beginners”. When I receive feedback and see results from clients, it shows that I am improving lives without overwhelming people.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
In the past year, I have learned a major part of success in any business that I believe many (myself included) look over; delegation. When I first started out with my business, it was important to me to learn how to do all the tasks that come along with content creation. While that is very important, as your business grows it is important you find like-minded people who can help you improve your business. A successful business is not run by one person but by a team. Hiring a team for me included an editor, designer, and even proofreading AI. My team gives me more time to focus on producing more content and scaling my business.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The unique thing about content creation is that you do not need to have excess capital to start. Most of us have smartphones that can record and take photos. One night after a long night shift, I pressed record on my iPhone and just started. I spent maybe $100 dollars from saving money aside at work to purchase a tripod and microphone. As time goes on and you begin to make revenue, you reinvest it into your business to improve your equipment where you see fit. That video I discussed earlier with no fancy editing or expensive cameras, sits at about 110,000 views on YouTube right now and makes me money passively. Start now, and figure it out as you go.
