What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was that success always has to follow a straight line, that if you work hard enough, everything will fall into place in the order you expect. I used to believe that if I just followed a set formula—study hard, work harder, and keep going—everything would align. But life doesn’t really work that way.
I had to unlearn this when I first started Teslys. I thought it would be a smooth process, that as long as I had the vision and worked hard, everything would fall into place. But there were twists and turns I didn’t anticipate—financial challenges, logistical issues, even people doubting that the business model would work. I realized that resilience, flexibility, and adaptability were far more important than sticking rigidly to any plan. Success isn’t about the straightest path; it’s about how well you navigate the curves.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A moment that really tested my resilience came early on in Teslys when we were just starting to manage Tesla rentals. There was a period where several owners who trusted us to handle their cars started facing financial pressures, and they needed their vehicles to generate income fast. We had just launched, and I was still figuring out how to streamline operations while keeping up with owner demands.
At one point, we had a couple of vehicles ready to go, but no rentals. It was a make-or-break moment for us, where I felt the weight of both our clients’ expectations and the future of Teslys. Instead of panicking, I pivoted our marketing strategy overnight, focusing on a new target audience. I spent sleepless nights redesigning our listings, tweaking our approach, and doubling down on customer communication.
By the end of that month, we had managed to secure more rentals than ever before, helping both our clients keep up with their payments and solidifying our place in the car-sharing market. It was a tough stretch, but it showed me that resilience isn’t about avoiding hardship—it’s about meeting it head-on and adapting quickly when things get tough.
