We recently connected with Vladimir Kusijanović and have shared our conversation below.
Vladimir, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Over the past year and a half, I’ve been working alongside my friends Karan Pandav and Rafael Awada (and many more) on Raf’s debut album ‘Vino…’. So far, it’s been the biggest project I’ve ever been a part of and it’s also the type of project I have always wanted to be a part of.
Raf is such a special artist with such a beautiful and inspiring story that being able to help him put it down on record has been such a meaningful ride for me. Getting to learn from him and Karan has been one of the biggest honors of my life. The album will be out later this year and we are beyond excited with it.
Vladimir, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been a musician since I was 12 years old and soon after, at 14 I started making records with my friends. Since then I’ve just continued working and meeting new people and learning more about the industry and how to navigate it. That whole journey led me to study music production & sound engineering in London and now at 26 to come to live in LA and continue learning and getting better at my craft.
I provide services as a music producer, songwriter, composer, session musician and sound engineer. I like to help my clients find solutions to whatever creative walls they are facing and help them out until their work reaches the highest potential it possibly can. I’m proud of every single project I’ve been a part of because even if some of them are not something I would necessarily relate to nowadays, they all brought me to where I am now, so I’m grateful. I try to be respectful of the music and the creative process in general!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly is the most rewarding part of being creative. I love the work/process itself a lot and love everything that comes with it, but perhaps my favorite part of it all is the people you meet.
Being creative you find a lot of particular characters along the way, all of them with amazing stories and a lot to learn from. I have met my best friends through working on projects together and I’m positive I will continue meeting amazing people along the journey. That for me is the most valuable and rewarding aspect of this journey as a creative.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I don’t know if it’s exactly my mission or whatnot, but something that drives me forward is the idea of being part of projects larger than myself and everyone involved. Something that could have a real impact on people and become timeless, I guess that would be my goal with it all. Contributing to bigger things than myself and being able to leave an impact on music somehow.
