We were lucky to catch up with Vlada Cozlova recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Vlada thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Some of the most interesting parts of our journey emerge from areas where we believe something that most people in our industry do not – do you have something like that?

As an artist I believe there should not be an agresive competition. Just be authentic and keep creating quality backdrops, put your soul in every piece, use quality materials and provide excelente customer service.

Don’t look what others in your industry do and try to create your own art pieces without copping others!

Vlada, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I have been painting distinctive pieces for years. Since joining world renowned photographer Lola Melani’s team i had the opportunity to learn and understand the different lighting techniques and the crucial role it plays when photographing a backdrop. Constantly inspired by the world around me, i incorporate inspirations from my every day surroundings and my skillful painting abilities to create stunning one of a kind hand painted works of art.

The combination of my invaluable lighting knowledge coupled with my talented artistry is what sets Vlada’s backdrops aside from all others.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

I’d say stay consistent with creating new quality backdrops, show them on social media and share my client’s beautiful work on my backdrops

Have you ever had to pivot?

My friend Lola Melani hired me to work for her as a stylist. My eyes caught her beautiful hand painted backdrops. As an artist I knew I could paint some new pieces for her.
After creating several backdrops that Lola has been using in her studio, I realized that could turn into a succesul business.
Thanks to her support, my business is thriving now!
