We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Viviana Aracena a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Viviana, thanks for joining us today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
I have definitely had my fair share of great and than not so great boss’s. But one person inparticular absolutely sticks out from the rest. This person has made a huge impact in my life. She was a true role model and inspiration. With her help I achieved entrepreneurship of my own. She helped pave the way for me to become a successful Esthetician. She taught me how to run a business with love and grace for what you do. I learned alot in the years I worked for her.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those that don’t know me I have been in the beauty industry for the past 5 years but my passion for it has gone as far back as I can remember to age 5 when I was always looking to style my moms hair or do her makeup.
I always wanted to work in the beauty industry providing people with selfcare treatments. Something about helping others feel good about themselves, to put a huge smile on someone face and boost their confidence. Just brings me so much joy.
I also love the idea of working from my heart. What sets me apart from most Estheticians is that I follow my intuition in the treatment room. Never guessing but feeling in a beautiful way what I can do to treat my clients.
My energy is usually the 1st thing people feel when visiting me. I like my clients to feel loved and welcomed. My treatments are unique as they are mix of modern technology mixed with natural and hollistic products and techniques.
Besides being an Esthetician I’m also an Advanced Reiki Practioner and sound healer. I often use reiki to help some of my clients heal from Skincare issues like acne, rosacea or where inflammation is present in the body.
At my office you will definitely find a zenful and holistic oasis with a twist of advanced esthetic treatments to help combat many different skin issues, we also offer amazing body contouring treatments and lymphatic drainage massages.
I like to use products that have active ingredients in them but that aren’t toxic. Its very important to me to find good quality products with healthy ingredients to assist me in my work.
Overall my business is my heart, I put lots of love and effort in my work and thats what we strive to provide to each and every client. A place to receive quality result driven services in a calming loving space.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start?
So when I started my business 5 years ago. I had just graduated from school and became licensed. I initially thought I would just get a job in my industry but when I saw what my industry paid new unexperienced Estheticians I had to rethink my plans and quick.
I began to look into the idea of starting a Mobile skincare business. I created a list and plan of all the things I would need to start my business. Once I had an idea of how much I needed to get started and buy my supplies. I simply went shopping for a loan. I received funding from a lender within 2 weeks of searching. I was soo excited when I was approved. I purchased all my necessary start up supplies. Invested in advertising and marketing.
I was able to repay my loan off within the year, and slowly as I gained new clients I would upgrade my equipment. My business runs debt free at this point and for that we are grateful.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
In this industry the best you can have is a word of mouth refferal. I advertise on google, in local magazines and make content for my Instagram and Facebook platforms. But nothing has proved to be a better strategy to growing my business than my own clients refferals and reviews.
Providing clients with an amazing service leaves a long lasting memory. One they will equally want to share with friends and loved ones. So never doubt the ability of a word of mouth refferal. In my opinion its the best marketing one could have.
