We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Viviana Andrade. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Viviana below.
Viviana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
One impactful lesson I had during my professional career was when I worked for an organization that provided world class service to their clients. Working as a customer service agent I once had a client that was devastated after the phone call we had. I knew she was devasted because her husband called in complaining about the call his wife had with me. The concern was that her cell phone wasn’t working and since the tower that serviced her area was down, there was nothing I could do but notify her we had to wait. My supervisor had to have a conversation with me about “empathy”. This was truly a lesson learned, because when I moved up to management, I was able to implement empathy as part of my training to my staff. My team was dedicated to finding ways to make our client feel satisfied with the outcome of our customer service calls. That lesson was for me, but it also impacted other people with my lesson. Today I own my business and always apply empathy to my staff and how we conduct business with our clients. Being empathetic is a skill most people do not apply and is well needed.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Since 2009 I have been operating my organization called A Plus Academics. My staff and I assist students from all backgrounds achieve educational success. We contribute to the region’s economic success by hiring local talent to empower families to be confident in academia and life with custom-tailored instruction. We also communicate with parents and local schools while contributing to public, private, and homeschool communities.
When families come to our office or all they feel our heart for their situation, and they know they can get results when they work with our staff. As most entrepreneurs we started with word-of-mouth advertising, today that continues but we also have awesome customer reviews. We have had client that use our services “exclusively”
Having a passion for education, I teach my two sons the importance of being life-long learners and setting the bar high with children so they will succeed in their future endeavors. She has started the “Life with Viviana” podcast to provide encouragement and inspiration, which offers intentional empowerment to live your best life. Just recently started a ROKU television called “Que Pasa Mujer” geared toward transparent conversations in the Latin community.
Serving the community is my core.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building a good reputation is essential to running a business, so having an excellent reputation as an individual rolls into my business. My reputation as a leader is essential to my market. We started with a word-of-mouth marketing strategy, and today we continue to get many clients from word-of-mouth, but we also have great online reviews. We have had students that joined our program in 5th grade and are now in college and they continue to entrust us. However, the word-of-mouth and customer reviews are only possible because of the staff we hire. Our staff are truly experts in their field, and they love what they do, so they make our jobs much easier. As a result, our families are seeing results in the student’s grades.
Have you ever had to pivot?
We may not embrace a pivot, but sometimes the pivot is essential for growth. When I originally started the business, I had a partner that contributed to the academics of the organization. About 5 years into the business, they decided to go in a different direction. At that time, I was forced to redirect my focus and be more involved in the academic realm. I had to place extra time into analyzing the academic program we had in place and how to refresh them with the new brand. I decided to rebrand the company. I was able to keep the same clients, staff, and marketing strategies. This was a challenging time because I had to refocus my business structure. Over the years, the business has maintained it’s awesome reputation. My focus was to go through the process of rebranding, and ensuring it was flawless for the families we service.
