We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Vivian Torres. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Vivian below.
Hi Vivian , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Lit Vibes was born during the pandemic, at a time when I was in a really dark place. Candle making became my light—literally and emotionally. It gave me something to look forward to, a peaceful escape where I could tap into my creativity, mix scents, design labels, and share something handmade with the people I love.
That’s why our mission is to bring light to your darkness. Because that’s exactly what candle making did for me—and now, I get to pass that light on to others

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! I’m Vivian, the founder of Lit Vibes Candle Studio—a candle and creative workshop business based in Boston. I started Lit Vibes during the pandemic while going through a really hard time. Candle making helped me feel grounded, gave me something to look forward to, and eventually became a creative outlet I couldn’t get enough of. After sharing my creations with family and friends (and getting really great feedback), I decided to turn it into a business.
Lit Vibes has been around for four years now, and we offer handmade candles, home fragrances, and candle-making workshops. We also host beyond candle making classes—fun themed experiences like espresso martini candle nights or collaborative events with other small businesses, like cake decorating or perfume making. It’s all about building community, creating memorable experiences, and offering a moment of calm and creativity in a busy world.
I think what sets us apart is the vibe—pun intended. Our events feel personal, fun, and thoughtful. Whether someone’s shopping for a cozy scent or attending one of our workshops, we want them to feel welcome and inspired. I still work full-time, so our studio is open on weekends only, but that hasn’t stopped us from growing. This is our final year in our current space, and we’re excited to shift to a mobile model so we can travel, collaborate, and connect with more people.
What I’m most proud of is how many people tell me that our workshops helped them feel relaxed, creative, or just plain happy—that’s everything to me. At the end of the day, Lit Vibes is about more than candles—it’s about joy, connection, and making people feel good.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my business was shifting from just selling candles to hosting candle-making workshops. Lit Vibes started as a product-based brand—hand-poured candles and home fragrances designed to bring comfort and calm. But I had a feeling that people might enjoy making candles just as much as they enjoyed buying them.
So I tested the idea with two candle-making events at a local brewery—and both completely sold out. That response lit a fire in me (pun intended) and showed me there was real demand for interactive, creative experiences. That success is what gave me the confidence to open our storefront and dedicate space to hosting workshops regularly.
What started as a bold pivot has now become the heart of our business. Workshops helped build a strong, loyal community around Lit Vibes and allowed us to offer more than just products—we now offer memories, connection, and joy.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Honestly, I show resilience every single day. Running a business is no small feat—especially while still working a full-time job. Balancing both worlds takes a lot of discipline, energy, and heart. There are days I’m completely drained, but I still show up for my customers, my community, and my vision.
One moment that stands out, though, is when I signed the lease for our storefront and then got denied a business loan I was counting on to furnish and stock the space. It was a major setback, but I didn’t let it stop me. I figured it out—piece by piece—and opened the studio anyway, without the funding I thought I needed.
That experience reminded me that resilience isn’t just about pushing through big moments—it’s about the daily commitment to keep going, even when things feel overwhelming. I’m still in it, still learning, still building, and still showing up—and to me, that’s the definition of resilience.
