Hi Vivian, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
We hope that our legacy at Beauty Lounge will be one of excellence in customer service and innovation. As an Asian-owned business, we’re deeply committed to creating a warm, inclusive environment for all our clients, and we take immense pride in celebrating diversity and embracing individuals from all backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities, and sexual orientations. We’ve worked extremely hard to provide a welcoming environment where all our guests can come to relax and enjoy high-quality beauty services. In addition, we’ve stayed up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the industry, giving us the ability to elevate our service offerings.
Personally, I hope to be remembered for my commitment to educating my staff and customers on the importance of sanitation and safety, and for promoting ethical business practices. We hold our clients’ safety and comfort as our utmost priority, ensuring that every visit to our establishment is a secure and pleasant experience. Through the work that myself and my business partner have provided, I believe we are leaving a positive impact on the industry and the community that we’ve served, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to create a welcoming and safe space for all.
Vivian, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a co-owner of Beauty Lounge, I am most proud of the quality of service and customer satisfaction that we consistently provide. It brings me joy to see our customers leave happy and satisfied with the services they received. I am also proud of the positive impact we’ve had on the nail industry, from our dedication to cleanliness and sanitation, as well as our commitment to remaining at the forefront of the latest trends and techniques. Additionally, I am proud of the strong partnership and teamwork between my business partner and I, as well as the dedicated and skilled staff we have built over the years. All of these factors combined make me incredibly proud of the success of Beauty Lounge.
Additionally, Beauty Lounge’s staff and partnership support has given me the opportunity to be the sole owner of Dori Boba, my own Taiwanese-inspired, bubble tea shop in Chula Vista, CA. Building on the strong foundation of exceptional service and experiences we created at Beauty Lounge, I’ve been able to translate those values into the world of food and beverages with Dori Boba. Here, we’re known for our delectable, handmade boba toppings that’s crafted using the freshest ingredients and premium tea.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The industry is constantly changing, and clients are gaining a lot of insight and information from social media and internet exposure. One strategy that’s helped us stay ahead has been the ability to understand and adapt to the growing change in industry products, technologies and style trends.
We watch evolving style trends, and as new products or techniques emerge, our team is dedicated to learning more, carefully checking their quality and effectiveness to ensure they meet our standards. Once we are confident in their performance and look, we offer these services to our guests and take the time to educate them about the service, going beyond just the application techniques.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Our most recent source of new clients was working with a dedicated marketing agency that focused on our small business from the inside and out. We took a risk and heavily pushed the promotion of the Gel-X nail manicures when the industry was just starting to even recognize the 2017 product. The Gel-X technique started to trend and become a heavily popular service starting in 2022, so we did a heavy industry push during, before and after the summer season to showcase to the Southern California community that we’re experts in this service. Social media marketing promotions, TikTok and Instagram Reels played a hefty role in solidifying success for us, as we saw an incredible increase in new customers.
