Alright, Vivian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

Yes, I am incredibly happy to be a business owner. I get asked a lot if I would ever consider going back to a regular 9-5 job but I feel like once you have experienced being an entrepreneur, you realize that there are more opportunities in life than what you were told when you were growing up. Being in my mid-30s, I was told to study one thing and work in that one area for the rest of my life. However, my parents were entrepreneurs so I had a taste of what it could be like being a business owner. I believe there are a lot of opportunities for someone to build a successful business and ditch the 9-5 grind. Being an Elopement Photographer and Business Coach has taught me that I would rather put my heart and soul into something than work for someone else making them more money with no benefits to myself.

Hi, I’m Vivian! I am an Elopement Photographer based in Colorado. I work over in Moab too. I got into elopements by eloping myself 5+ years ago. My husband and I never dreamed about having a big traditional wedding. When I started researching about weddings, I realized that elopements were a fantastic option. When we eloped, I loved everything about it. Hiking to an amazing location, getting changed in the woods, saying our vows surrounded by mountains, etc. I knew that I wanted to help other couples elope the way they wanted to. I wanted to give them a safe space where they can dream about eloping outdoors and help them make it into a reality. So I help couples get married in epic and wild places.

My elopement photography packages include: location, assisted planning, unlimited consultations, recommendations for other vendors, custom timeline, ordained services, polaroids, online gallery, and photo albums.

I offer highlighted videos as an add on. I love these highlighted videos because it’s great for couples who want video on their day but don’t want a big production wedding video. That way, we keep your day as intimate as possible with just me as your vendor on the day!

I built such a successful full-time elopement photography business for the past 3 years, that I felt a calling to help other photographers pivot and create a full-time business where they can quit their 9-5 and launch their dream elopement photography business.

I guess I do a lot! I am so passionate that I want my couples and students to dream big.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My mission for my elopement photography business is to set up a safe space for couples who want to elope outdoors. As someone who came from an abusive family, is a person of color, and had a nephew who committed suicide because his parents didn’t approve of his sexuality. I want my business to be inclusive for anyone and everyone. I want potential couples to know that I have their back and will forever be their number one fan and planner to get them married the way they want. I believe that nobody is entitled to be there on your wedding day. You get to choose who you want to be there. It’s your day, your way, boo.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I would love to! As an Elopement Photographer, I am usually the first vendor that my couples book for their elopement. I help them with the planning so I share any recommendations they need. I found my couples wanted to book a videographer but either didn’t value video enough to pay another vendor or didn’t want another vendor to be there on their day.

I figured out that there was a way, where I could pivot my business and offer highlighted videos for my couples who want a video but not a big video production. I wanted to bridge the gap and fulfill my couples’ requests. So I started offering highlighted videos as an add on to my elopement photography packages and my couples are over the moon! They love their videos so much! It makes me so happy to be able to create beautiful memories for them to share with family and friends.
