Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Viveka von Rosen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Viveka , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
About a year ago, I was walking my dog and I found myself thinking about my friend Sarah. She had recently moved, and I knew how challenging that could be. So, I decided to practice “peopling”. (This is my method of connecting with people I’m thinking about by picking up the phone and calling them, rather than texting or emailing – what a concept!)
I dialed Sarah’s number and listened to the familiar ringing. She picked up on the third ring, sounding a bit frazzled but happy to hear from me.
“Hey, Viveka! It’s so good to hear from you,” she said, her voice warm despite the chaos of moving.
“Hey, Sarah! I was thinking about you and wanted to check in. How’s the new place treating you?” I asked, genuinely interested.
Sarah launched into a detailed account of her moving experience—the endless packing, the stress of finding a new place, and the relief of finally settling in. As she talked, I could hear the mixture of exhaustion and excitement in her voice. It was a big change for her, and I was glad to be there to listen.
After about fifteen minutes, she paused and asked, “But enough about me! What’s new with you?”
For a moment, I considered brushing off the question with a simple “I’m fine.” But then I remembered why I started “peopling” in the first place—to create meaningful connections. So, I decided to share something personal and exciting.
“Actually, Sarah, I’ve been working on a new idea. It’s called ‘Beyond the Dream Board.’ It’s a coaching business aimed at helping women in corporate positions pivot from their roles and businesses that they no longer love—or even like—and create the legacy business of their dreams based on their true gifts,” I explained.
I went on to describe my vision. I talked about how I wanted to support women in discovering their true passions and talents, helping them transition into businesses that not only brought them fulfillment but also made a positive impact on the world. I shared my thoughts on the importance of aligning one’s work with their soul’s calling and how this new venture could transform lives.
As I spoke, Sarah listened intently. When I finished, she said, “You know, I think I know one of those women you’re talking about. She’s been feeling stuck in her current job, and was just telling me how she’s yearning for something more meaningful. Your idea sounds like exactly what she needs. When do you launch?”
I was taken aback but thrilled. Here was my referral, right in front of me, all because I decided to make a simple phone call.
That phone call with Sarah taught me a valuable lesson about the power of genuine connections and the importance of sharing our dreams with others. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple call to turn an idea into reality. “Peopling” isn’t just about staying in touch; it’s about opening doors to new opportunities and transforming lives—one conversation at a time.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I help executive women in their 50s, 60s, and 70s transition from corporate roles into fulfilling, purpose-driven entrepreneurial ventures. My mission is to guide these powerful women in creating legacy businesses that reflect their true gifts and passions.
Having spent over 19 years in LinkedIn marketing and sales, I’ve built a career around empowering others. But it wasn’t until I started my last company, a leading digital sales transformation company, that I realized I was off track myself and that my true calling was to help women who feel confined by their current roles find a new path that brings them joy and satisfaction.
Through my coaching business, “Beyond the Dream Board,” I offer a holistic approach to personal and professional transformation. My services are designed to help women extricate themselves from roles they no longer love—or even like—and pivot towards businesses that are aligned with their soul’s calling.
My goal is to help women create businesses that not only support them financially but also fulfills them spiritually and emotionally.
Have you ever had to pivot?
After seven years at my current company, despite being financially successful and an internationally known thought leader, LinkedIn Influencer, and expert, I felt unfulfilled. The achievements that once brought me joy now felt hollow. I hated getting up in the morning, feeling completely off my game and resentful. My aha moment came in a hospital bed, of all places, as I filled out grants. I knew there had to be more to life than this grind. It was clear that a change was imperative. Despite the fear of leaving my financial security and the pain of walking away from a personal brand I had painstakingly built, I knew I had to listen to my heart. My true gifts—deep intuition, speaking, writing, and coaching—were calling me to create a life aligned with my soul’s purpose. It was time to pivot, to embrace a path that resonated with my core values and passions, and to help others do the same.
To navigate this transition, I sought the support of a strong women’s network, joining a pricey but powerful mastermind group and finding mentors who had successfully made similar pivots. This community provided invaluable guidance and encouragement. I also worked on my mindset, identifying and releasing limiting beliefs that no longer served me. Daily journaling, meditation, and affirmations became integral parts of my morning routine, helping me gain clarity and focus.
I conducted thorough market research and developed a comprehensive business plan to shape my new venture. I reconnected with my network, attending industry events and engaging on social media to share my journey and build a supportive community. With a clear vision and the groundwork laid, I launched Beyond the Dream Board, a business dedicated to helping women pivot from corporate roles to fulfilling legacy businesses. This new path allows me to make a meaningful impact and aligns with my true passions and gifts.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Rebranding on social media, especially on LinkedIn, was a crucial step in my transition to Beyond the Dream Board. With a substantial following of over 200K on LinkedIn, X and Facebook who knew me as “the LinkedIn Expert,” it was essential to navigate this shift thoughtfully.
The first step was updating my online presence with new images that reflected my new direction and brand. I created a new company page for Beyond the Dream Board, as well as updated my personal profile (including updated URLs – www.LinkedIn.com/in/VivekavonRosen). I needed to write a new compelling headline focused on my new audience, their needs and struggles and how I solved them. And I used the About section and Featured section on LinkedIn to speak directly to my Ideal Client Profile (ICP)—executive women in their 50s, 60s, and 70s seeking to pivot from their corporate roles to create legacy businesses.
I crafted content that introduced my new philosophy and business focus. This included both written posts and videos where I shared my journey, insights, and the inspiration behind Beyond the Dream Board. I highlighted the pain points my audience might be experiencing—feeling unfulfilled, constrained, and uncertain about their next steps—and offered actionable advice and support to help them navigate their transitions.
Navigating this transition with my audience required clear communication and consistency. I was open about my journey and the reasons behind my pivot, which helped maintain trust and engagement. By regularly sharing valuable content that resonated with their needs and aspirations, I successfully rebranded my social media presence and positioned myself as a guide and mentor for women ready to embrace their next chapter.
