Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vishvak Prakkruth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vishvak, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
“I find it hard to pick a single film as the most meaningful because each holds its own significance. ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ stemmed from observing strangers in a New York bar, exploring the power of shared experiences. ‘Cactus Flower’ was an improvised narrative on second chances and growth. My upcoming project delves into mental health and the strength of community.
I feel there are too many stories with negative messaging, violence, or made purely to entertain, so my work is aimed at conveying positive messages and celebrating the people and world around us. The goal is for at least one person to feel better about their life when they watch my movies.

Vishvak, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my creative journey at age four as a child actor. A decade later, I transitioned to theater and that’s where I found a passion for Directing. Then I went to college for Journalism, where I learned photography, writing, and the basics of Film and TV.
After graduating college, I started a production company in Mumbai, creating digital content for brands and artists. A few years later, I moved to New York and found a love for narrative filmmaking.
I feel that my experience as a multidisciplinary filmmaker, and the desire to keep pushing boundaries, have helped me develop a unique and well-rounded approach to all my work.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As someone who always came up with the wildest ideas, and was often shut down, I feel the world really needs more hope. Whether it’s our dreams and aspirations, the community around us, or even the rapidly changing planet, my mission is to spread hope through stories that are inspired by everyday people and life.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Besides actually loving what I do for a living, it’s all the experiences I get from traveling and working with really interesting minds. Art is inspired by life, and to create it, we need to understand and experience everything we can. I’m always learning new things from the projects I take on. One day it’s a documentary about science and technology, the next it’s a music video with social commentary, and then a narrative movie about quantum mechanics, the possibilities are endless.
