We were lucky to catch up with Virginia Taylor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Virginia , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea when I could not find a babysitter for my children. Something went off inside of me and said that I can do something I love and charge really cheap for it to see how it goes and it went up from there.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started as an entrepreneur at a very young age. I would charge my father and his friends to bring them drinks when we had social gatherings. my father was my motivator for starting my own business. He would see my work always say that I have what it takes to work for myself. My dad passed away in February 2006, by September 2006 I decided to open my salon. Working for myself has been so rewarding, because I can work when I please. I am grateful that I am so disciplined to keep the business running successful. What sets me apart from any other business is that I work with integrity. I treat my clients with the upmost respect. I stand behind my work 100%. I will listen to what they need and not what I’d rather do for them. I am able to provide services to clients who have balding or alopecia for a more professional term. I’m a very creative person, and ok with challenges given to me. I handle opposition calmly, and with a smile on my face, despite of how I may feel. I love making the world beautiful and I feel like I do so bye pouring out love onto my clients, causing them to have a smile on their faces and feel more secure about themselves,

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy in building, my clientele is that I don’t allow more than one client in the salon at a time. I prefer to do one on one with my clients, so that it is more personable and they know that I am tending to their needs and not just worried about getting paid. The client is able to gain a relationship with me and just not come and get their hair done and leave and not be able to express themselves and leave feeling like family.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When managing a team, it works best when everyone works together rather than see each other as competition. There’s no reason for anyone who is working as a team to experience the stress of their fellow teammate, trying to pull them down, like grabs in a bucket. Some people work more efficient than others, and sometimes it causes jealousy to arise for no reason. When each team player realizes that they are unique in their own way, there would be no reason to compete with one another. What one of my other team players have experienced and learn should be beneficial for me or someone else and vice versa.
