We recently connected with Virginia Frischkorn and have shared our conversation below.
Virginia, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I want to change the world for the better one party at a time. Yes, a cliche statement indeed… but, it’s the core of Partytrick. There is more disconnectedness and feelings of lack of belonging in the world right now than ever… despite more social and community-building apps than ever before. In-person community, in-person connection, and in-person experiences are needed to change this.
The idea for Partytrick has been a long time coming! I grew up in a family that hosted… a lot! There were small dinners, events out and about, and very large company parties for the company my father ran. Fast forward 20+ years and I founded and built one of the premier luxury event planning companies in the US called Bluebird Productions. After a series of life-changing events in 2020 (loss of the ability to plan events due to covid, and most notably the death of my father who was my mentor), I paused and spent time reflecting on what I wanted to do with my time and what gifts I had to give to the world.
I believe my unique skills in designing and crafting gatherings that are memorable has the ability to impact the world for the better…. So, we got started building Partytrick. We are a membership-based web-based app that inspires and empowers you to host gatherings from brunches to bbqs to birthday bashes to bachelorettes.
There is nothing like Partytrick and nothing that solves the problem of having a planner in your pocket. Our interactive approach and user experience for our members is totally unlike anything else.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I love fabulous time spent with friends hanging out. I love a great picnic. I love a great meal shared with family. And, for me, planning and producing, and managing the chaos of an event comes very naturally.
I became the planner in the group because I wanted to make these experiences actually happen versus wait for others to do it… The common objections of “i’m too tired, too stressed, don’t have space” or the lack of knowing how to pull something off stop people too often.
While I started my career in large-scale special events, I am now empowering everyone to do what I did for the most elite. I spent years learning and perfecting the systems that create a well-curated, planned and produced event.
Partytrick is your trick… it’s the secret you have up your sleeve that allows you to pull off a fabulous in-person occasion with ease and confidence. Nothing like Partytrick exists… while social media platforms and pinterest have ideas galore, curating and executing these ideas asks much of a person hosting. In my opinion it asks too much. Ideas are great, but action is what matters.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Partytrick is entirely bootstrapped although we’ll be starting a Seed Series raise in the very near future. I spent 12 years growing three successful event planning and production companies. The money I saved and bookmarked from those businesses has been what has allowed me the breathing room to fund Partytrick to date. We are at the point where we have paid members of the community but, as a lower priced product, we now need to expand our reach to get to revenue that will cover our staffing needs and eventually become profitable.
We have had to be as scrappy as possible to get to where we are. Every team member at Partytrick has specialized skills but also wears a handful of other hats.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
While Partytrick is a SaaS company, we are also in the “event” industry. My years of building my other businesses in the event industry with Bluebird Productions helped me build a reputation as an industry expert. In events, we rely upon 20+ vendors to pull off the events we design, plan, and produce. It takes an army. This skill of bringing people together and learning what I can do and what I can’t do, has helped me bridge the gap into the tech landscape. Curiosity and finding people to fill areas of expertise you cannot fill is critical.
