Today we’d like to introduce you to Virginia Crouse.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first fell in love with dance when I watched the “Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses” movie. From a very young age, I loved music and moving to everything I heard and finally at the age of 8 years old I took my first dance class.
I didn’t start taking dance seriously until the age of 10 and that’s when I truly became set on becoming a professional dancer; I’ve always loved inspiring people and making viewers feel something while I dance and that will always be my goal is to be an inspiration to someone and to make people feel when they watch me dance.
A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into my training to get me to where I am today and although I missed out of some experiences growing up I am thankful for the hard work, blood, sweat and tears my younger self put in to help shape the life I get to live now.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With every profession there will be bumps and detours in your career and personal journey. For me, struggles have become a normal thing to work through and learn from. My journey getting to where I am now has been nothing short of hard with having to learn how to maintain being positive when the world around you is burning and crumbling from right underneath your feet.
The hardest struggle has been continuing to think positively through the misfortunes and to keep looking forward and not getting stuck with negative thoughts that ultimately hold you back.
I constantly remind myself that I am where I today because I kept a good heart and I never let the misfortunes take away my genuine love for people and my craft. I am everyone’s biggest cheerleader when it comes to their goals and careers and I will always be that person no matter the situation I truly wish everyone the best in their journeys and nothing can take that away from my heart.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional dancer that has been featured on season 17 of “So You Think You Can Dance” and I am now dancing full time in Las Vegas, NV living out a very big and beautiful dream of mine. Being a professional dancer is the most magical “job” I could ever imagine having as I get to do what I love everyday, have Incredible experiences and meet some of the most creative and amazing people. I am most known for being a contemporary dancer but I try my best to stay as well rounded of a dancer as possible as I love and appreciate every style of dance there is. I am proud of my growth and progress not only as a dancer but as a person in general; being in a creative career you can easily get lost in trends or habits set by peers and people you surround yourself by and I am happy that I’ve always stayed true to myself and my purpose as a performer which is to always inspire an audience.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I was speaking to a beautiful friend of mine about this very topic the other day and these are my thoughts on success. Although there isn’t a correct way to define success, I think the journey to success is inspiring because the word “success” means something different in everyone’s story.
Whether it’s art or academic success everyone has their own way of completing and reaching their goal, which is beautiful in its own way as it’s all uniquely different even if everyone followed the same guidelines.
Being successful is a lot bigger than what I believe most people think of it to be and that’s because some people think of success as money, career, or status in the universe instead of breaking it down to feeling like happiness and contentment with the world and life you’ve created for yourself.
I believe that success is to be happy and that being filled with pure happiness is the most successful status a person could achieve.
