We recently connected with Virgi Dart and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Virgi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I feel that with music there’s not a specific timeline to create, do, find the route to reach your goals because it’s a career that is in constant movement. You, as an artist, also constantly move, with your tastes, with your personal growth and yes, any career started at a very young age gives a longer lifespan and probably gives more room to change and adapt to what you really want to do, with music you can still create so much for different types of targets (and let’s not even dive into the other side of music which is “the behind the music”-producing, managing, promoting, distributing and all the different jobs and tasks related to music that are not exactly being the main artist or main band) with music you constantly evolve and I feel that any moment in life it’s a perfect moment to share your talent with and create art that many people can feel related with.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Virgi Dart, Colombian Recording Artist & Performer based en Colorado, USA. In Colombia Virgi’s musical prowess has afforded her the opportunity to perform on the most important + grand stages in her hometown, Cali, along with many respected venues throughout her home country. Prior to moving to the US, Virgi headlined at the most prolific disco group in Colombia for six years, granting her access to performances with some of the most well-respected artists in Latin America.
Virgi is excited to bring her professionalism, talent, and commanding stage presence to her newfound home in Colorado and in venues across the US. She looks forward to continuing to honor her influences of Latin music while delivering memorable performances for her crowds.
Virgi released her first album ‘AEROPUERTO’ in 2022, a versatile EP with 6 songs where the audience will be delighted with pop music, cumbia, bachata and electro-pop as well as a beautiful ballad with a symphonic orchestra. She is currently working on the recording of her second album ‘NuCumbia’ where she explores one of her favorite genres-Cumbia that is an authentic genre from Colombia but it is also a genre that connects all Latin America as one single country. Cumbia is actively being listened from Mexico all the way down to Argentina and her idea is to create a modern sound where the Cumbia is the core. She is also releasing music videos and performing throughout the US, Mexico, Colombia and working on upcoming shows for 2024.
She was also selected as one of the 100th most influential women in music in her department (state) in Colombia, Valle del Cauca. ‘Mujeres de Caña Dulce’ highlights women that have impacted the music in Valle del Cauca and Virgi was featured in the book released in early 2023.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I feel that the music business is finally being a little more accesible for artists. Thanks to the internet, we can now find a wide variety of services and help to take our music a little further being an independent artist. It is also a fact that there’s also a crazy amount of music, songs being uploaded day by day in streaming platforms and finding the way to stand out in the overwhelming sea of new artists is getting harder and harder but I still think that discipline and consistency makes perfect. I am thankful for podcasts since I can learn so much while doing some other things, it keeps me productive and in the constant learning process on how the industry is quickly moving. I also found a great team who supports me with all the questions that independent artists always have and no one can answer, plus supporting me with taking my music to new places and countries. I also think that it’s a priority (and this took me a long while to figure out) to have a team! At the beginning you think you can handle everything but you will get to a point where you need and extra, or few extra, hands to take your music to a higher level!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to be in as many stages as I can. That’s my happy place. I love connecting with the audience, sharing my stories with people. If you put me in a place where I can sing and have time to interact with the people there, I think that that’s what makes my heart pump and my soul explode. I love connection, I love sharing, I love finding ways to spread love in this world that is in constant need of that.
