We were lucky to catch up with Virag Vida recently and have shared our conversation below.
Virag, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
For years, I’ve been working as a cultural journalist in Los Angeles, covering stories for Hungary. Throughout my work, I’ve encountered numerous fascinating people and stories. Unfortunately, some of these stories don’t just focus on the bright side of life. Being personally touched by these tales, not only as a journalist but also as a civilian, I tried to find a way to actively help. I realized I could leverage the connections I’ve built in my work, and I managed to do so remarkably! I asked celebrities (whom I work with) to provide significant assistance to those in need with a small gesture. As an American Goodwill Ambassador for this Hungarian foundation that helps premature babies, I have successfully connected these two aspects. I’ve convinced several American celebrities to support the project, such as Jennifer Hudson, Danny Trejo, Vladimir Kulich, Kristos Andrews, Donald Movat, and Olympic Team USA member, Kim Glass. To me, this is true success because even though my work as a journalist often gives hope, certainty, or just a brief entertainment to many, saving or aiding the development of premature infants’ lives is what truly matters and holds value for me. I’m proud that through my work, I can contribute a little to this noble cause.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Like many of us, I am wearing more than one hats… I am an international journalist in Hollywood – CCA (Critics Choice Association) and MPA (Motion Pictures of America) member – writing star interviews, local reports, film reviews and covering red carpets. I have a new challenge is in my life. A promising startup the Bercode found me in Febreuary and they offered me an Executive Relationship Manager position. This is a highly exciting project in Virtual Merchandising. I believe that our platform and our App will change the merchandising world as it works with AR. An other huge part of my life is ART. Since I was a child I am living in the world of art. I’ve been a choreographer since 1997, as a modern dancer I had great results on world championships in Canada and in Germany and I established my own dance company also, the KORÉ Company in 2000. We travelled all over the world and performed on festivals in Lithuania, France, Belgium, Morocco, Denmark, Turkey and I gave master classes most of these countries. I believe the art has complexity and I don’t just write and choreograph, I am also making drawings and paintings. I had two solo exhibitions in the last years and I am a sold artist.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I believe in win-win or win-win-win situations. I believe in connections and I believe that art and media can involve to create money for the investors and also can help people in need trough on foundations and entertain the people. My goal is to create as an artist, to give platform for talented people and people who needs help in different outlets as a journalist and make connections and bridges between them as a business woman.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Everybody has to learn how to say no. When I look back I see that I wasted too much time and too much of my talent for projects that I shouldn’t, because I couldn’t say no for a long time.
