We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Violet Song a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Violet, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?

In the field of education and practice of integrative medicine, transforming lives has always been the mission. It’s also a learning and defining process for me that what is transforming lives. As a faculty in Acupuncture school, lecturing and teaching is a way to transform students’ lives through career knowledge and skills building. As an Acupuncturist and Herbalist, each clinic session is a way to transform patients’ lives.

Violet, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m the first generation immigrant from mainland China. I was on work visa teaching at AOMA Graduate School Integrative Medicine and achieved US residency through National Interest Waiver with my PhD degree and background in research. I care for my students when I’m teaching classes. I care for my patients at the clinic. I practice with heart and soul.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?

I just started Dr Song Health and Wellness Center. I have a lot of ideas and thoughts.
