We were lucky to catch up with Violet Fernandez-Rojas recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Violet, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

I came up with my business name Forever Shots Photography not overnight but definitely over time. My original name started out as “Violet’s Memories.” That was straight out of high school and I quickly did not like that. I wanted something that had a story about why I got into photography. Which was mainly because I had a hard time with “change.” Never accepted the fact that nothing stayed the same, I took it as a negative thing for so long. For example, we didn’t realize that one day we played with our friends outside for the last time, stopped holding our parents’ hand when we crossed the street. Or me just not liking the fact that as I got older so did my parents. Fun moments seemed to slip away like sand. I needed something forever. That’s where photography helped me. When you take that picture, it stops time for you. I fell in love with photography quickly. Later down the road, I met my husband and we married in 2019, adding his name to mine Fernandez-Rojas. I then had my “AHA” moment after writing Violet FR. FR reminds me of forever. It was meant for me, hence Forever Shots Photography was created.

Violet, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Violet Fernandez-Rojas Violet FR for short. I am a photographer here in Kansas City, KS/MO. I’ve always loved taking pictures, something about that one click and it captures that moment forever is still mind boggling to me! Forever Shots Photography started with just landscape photography in 2018. I wanted a place to share these shots. But truthfully 2021 is when I started to believe in myself and make a business out of it like I always dreamed of. I know that my business is special because I have a meaning for what I do. I want future clients to know that I’m here to capture special moments for them. I understand how significant it is. It’s not just another picture, It’s a collection of moments. Whether it’s our first baby, our first I-do, or even our last I-love-you to our family members who depart. Being able to capture those moments that may not seem like much, but ultimately turn out to be everything!

What I do I love, and I hope my pictures show that.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

The fact that I have helpful co-workers, friends, and family has really helped me build my reputation in my market, just by sharing my posts and commenting on my photos. It allows me to reach new clients who may be interested in what I create. I thank them greatly. Most importantly believing in myself helped build my reputation. As a result, I was able to accomplish great things and continue to do so!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn and continue to unlearn the toxic part of my brain telling me others are doing better. This is what I should be doing more of. If I had thought of that, why am I not like them? I believe everyone struggles with this train of thought which is completely normal as we are just humans. I wanted to encourage myself to be mindful that life is not a race. There is no right way in how I conduct my business, only wrong if I allow myself to be consumed by self-pity. I am where I am supposed to be in life and no one can stop me not even my mind.
