We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vintij Brat a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Vintij thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?

Let me preface this conversation with the fact that it brings my heart delight that you all have chosen the word kind versus nice. To many there is not a distinct difference…oh but there is! Nice is the inward projection for self and kind is an outward projection for others.

The kindest thing anyone has done for me was to believe in me when I was incapable of believing in myself!

Life is not a respecter of Persons and there are several variables that shape and mold our lives, a lot of them are shared by many. I am no different then you who are reading this. I have faced many trials and I’ve experienced many triumphant seasons as well.

Most times I have the strength to press on but occasionally I need the reassurance of someone on the outside and I am a firm believer that iron sharpens iron! To look past self and see the need of others, to speak life and pour into them is a noble gesture. After all no one possesses a perfect life and we can all use a warm hug, a smile and an encouraging word from time to time.

There are many that I am forever indebted to because without realizing it they have catapulted me into greatness by way of their selflessness. Although I may never be able to repay them I do my part by paying it forward through kind words, support, human compassion and a great deal of grace.

I keep a smile on my face not for myself but usually for others. A simple smile can turn someone’s day around, give someone else a glimpse of hope and for someone else a reason to live. A smile can show someone that you believe in them without speaking.

I have a few mottos that help me be a light for others as they’ve been a light for me:

Be a kind human.
Love deeply, always!
Practice human compassion.
Laugh like no one is listening.
Don’t sweat the small stuff…most things are small things!
SMILE!!!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

From as far back as I can remember I have embodied art, from drawing, to poetry, to dancing, to cooking. At some point in life I have touched most art forms and excelled at it. These diverse outlets have allowed and encouraged me to grow into my authentic self and have fun while doing it.

Although I have always been creative it took me a number of years to realize that this was my purpose in life. I’ve always felt like anything artistic came naturally but it wasn’t until I developed a relationship with God that I understood just how dope I truly was.

My skills are not my own!

I could have never imagined that God would take this gift and make it a blessing to the nations. My art is manifested in so many parts of who I am that it is mind blowing. I use art in everything that I do…and I wholeheartedly believe that in all actuality, I AM ART!

I used to believe that deciding to create my own jewelry line was birthed out of a simple need one night in 2013. I was in need of something to compliment a pea green blazer and being pressed for time I created my first piece. Looking back I now realize that need was just the vessel and that when my Mother birthed me art was produced in rare form.

For me it is an honor to be present and to always show up as my true self and that is exactly what I give each of my Clients. Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

To walk in my purpose! When the rubber meets the road it’ll be me and my God. I want to stand before God empty, yet full! I want to have been emptied out and imparted every great thing in me. I want to have honored my Clients in thought, action and deed.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a Creative is my C.A.R.E.S model. With these simple revelations I have been able to walk in my purpose while helping others recognize their own purpose and beauty through art.

A- “Align with your authentic self and do so unapologetically.”

R- “Respect the process, often times the journey is the destination.”
